Great game by Kaneko,pretty much a fusion between Cave and Psikyo's shmups formula.

I lucked out and got to play this in an arcade for a bit. Very nice game, though the bosses are very bland. They're not bad, but if you played Ghost Pilots/Raiden/shmups from that immediate era you won't be seeing anything new.

Fun stuff, though I really dislike the current trend shmups have of giving you ONE weapon that you can charge/power up instead of a ton of weapons. Neo Zanac was the last shmup to really go all out with that, sad. :(

two different versions of the 1st stage boss and all that

the medal system's alright and the atmosphere is good

it just frustrates the hell out of me for some reason,
so i can't bring myself to play it anymore

My buddy in Japan just sent me Sengeki Striker, also for the Super Nova. I've never played it and have found little information on the net about it. Anyone here ever play it?

I've never seen a loose cart of it for sale,so I wouldn't know how much they'd fetch alone without the mobo...

Sengeki Striker,never played that one. Supposedly,it's very similar to Shienryu,from what I hear.

well,i'd say SS is very similar to shienryu from an "artistic" point of view,
as both games are from warashi

the game in itself isn't really similar,imo

i think SS is very "generic"

the action is really intense and the screen is often filled with enemies,bullets,explosions

can get pretty chaotic

you can only use 2 weapons if i remember correctly

a very cool violet laser and maybe missiles?

first 3 levels are moderately difficult,
then action moves to space and difficulty goes up quite a bit

like in shienryu,kinda

first 4 levels on earth - easy

last 4 levels in space - hard


bottom line,ss doesn't have anything peculiar or unique
but it's a hell of a fun,aestethically pleasing shooter :kekeke:
