What are the common issues of these multi slot MVS PCBs? It's said that some games when inserted next to other games causes sound issues etc... how privalent is this?

Thanks

The issues to look out for.

Cracked/broken pcb tracks (same can be said for the MV1, being larger boards they are more prone to this) Also being double board sets the interconnect is something to consider.

Having more slots means more chance of a problem related to less than squeaky clean cart sockets.

Yes there are issues with order of carts, just swap around.

As with any of the boards Nicad battery leakage may be a problem

Because the multi slots draw more current, the 5 volt pins tend to get toasted, this may lead to intermittent boot up.

On the 5 volt thing, its more critical on these boards to have it set correctly. I set mine to a whisker over 5 volts at the board (not the psu)

I have run a couple of 6 slots for several years and have not had any probs (apart from the toasted edge connect) The idea that they are unreliable is a myth imho. Im sure others do have horror stories with these boards, that may be down to bad luck I guess :spock:

Todd has pretty much covered everything.

This sound issue thing though. I have found that if you put games in date order, ranging from the oldest game in slot-1 you will not experience the problem anywhere near as much as usual. There are the odd few extra troublesome carts, but you'll have to deal with those as you come across them.

I've never had any real trouble with my 4 or 6 slot boards. The only thing that I've run into is the cart order. With Rage of the Dragons, the board would reset (skipping carts after ROTD) and go directly to the first cart while I was switching slots. So I just put ROTD in the last slot, and now everything works fine.

Oh, and the battery on my 6-slot never did save right and keep my settings, but the boards is so old that it probably has little to nothing to do with the fact that the board's a 6-slot.
