well, I would like to get stereo sound out of my naomi board...

here's what I have...

motherboard, capcom I/O (in use)

sega psu, and sound amp (got in a cheap auction)

is there a way to wire this up to a stereo cab?

Not sure how the sound on this board works....but any advice would be appreciated.

thanks!

Well, if you use the Capcom I/O it already outputs amplified stereo sound through the RCA jacks, in the same way as CPS2, it shouldn't be difficult to wire sound from it in a stereo cab. The same could be done if using the audio amp.
Sorry, but I don't know how to exactly wire it because I've never dealt with a cab.

If I'm seeing the pictures correctly, the naomi system outputs in stereo as it is...
The two rca connectors on the main unit. You might not get a great quality, or volume without the amp (I don't have a naomi personally, so I'm not 100%), but I think you could just wire up the audio from the rca jacks... If you don't know how to convert bare wires to rca... get some rca connectors (2 of them{preferably one white, and one red}). Solder the wire that is the audio wire to the solder pot in the center of the rca connector. Next, solder a ground wire to the metal thingy (my technical terminology is vast huh?)... and then you're done!... I'll give a pic...because my instructions are confusing me even...

wait....

so I can just splice the rca adapters coming off of the capcom I/O board and run that to the speakers?

Or do I still need to run that through the audio amp?

I am just not sure if the capcom I/O amplifies that on it's own, like how it doesn't need the sega psu....or if it sill needs the amp to get stereo sound...

I don't want to mess up my speakers

anyone know for sure?

The Capcom I/O is supposed to amplify the sound for you, that's why it doesn't need the sound amp as opposed as when using the Sega I/O.
The Capcom I/O just turns the Naomi into basically a CPS2 so you can use it in the same set-up.

doesn't cps2 still need the Q amp or whatever to use the sound from the rca jacks?

I want to get stereo out of it....so will I need an amp to get the stereo via those rca jacks?

I wanted to just splice them and wire them up....

what do you think?

I'm interested in this. Could you please post a link for your topic "over there"?

Thanks. ^_^

I'm inclined to agree with Amano about not needing another amp if you have the Capcom I/O. The Capcom I/O has a pot for volume. I would think it would be as simple as disconnecting the speakers from the JAMMA harness and running RCA cables to the speakers. I have a Capcom I/O that's running through the harness since it is in a converted cab. I'll rig up a speaker with RCA jacks and let you know for sure. I'll try to get it done tonight.

Oh man, that would be awesome! thank you! I hope it works out that way too and am going to pick up a couple cheap rca cords today to play with too. I figure as long as the volume is down when I turn it on, it will be fine either way.

Do you think it could mess up my speakers if it's not the right way?

Ah, okay. I'm glad you tested it because I didn't have time to tonight. My son was being a typical 2 year old. :)

mr megalo....your PM box is full....if you se this :)

here's the question/comment

When I wired up my test jamma extension...the volume knob on the capcom I/O turned up the sound coming out of the rca jacks. When it was down, I could hear nothing, and when I turned it all the way up, it was still really low, but I could hear it get louder as I turned it up. Are you sure the volume knob on the i/o doesn't control the RCA output on the capcom i/o? It was lowering and raising the volume on my cab. I just didn't know if it would do it after the sound went through the amp.

Sorry if I am not understanding this, but I tried it and the audio volume via the rca jacks changed when I turned the dial. Just VERY low...

are volume knobs hard to wire? or straight forward? Just never messed with one before.

My cab has a jamma/stereo switch and is a neo 25.

thanks for your time!!!!!
