if so how good does it work? i know my supernova has problems with some games with its stock rgb to svideo board(really its just the specs are so random on arcade boards). and most of the time it depends on the tv it is hooked up to. mk1.mk1 bootleg,2,3,nba jam, hop on some sony tvs(my 36 wega xbr).
they dont hop on my dlp but mk1 and mk1 bootleg are black and white on my dlp.
martial champions has a odd flicker in some colors on my dlp but not my sony..
i know the neobits board has a problem with the genesis.
but i think most arcade boards would work more like a neo geo since neo geo is a arcade system at its heart.

I higly recomend that you build a SYNC splitter and connect it to a switch....

It will improve comatability in one setting or the other.

I've made about 12-14 superguns with the NeoBitz and compatibility is great with component and using a sync separator. I had a thread sometime ago about that.

Here are some pics of 4 superguns I just finished, all with NeoBitz Inside:

Very nice work :multi_co:
Could you please explain a little about sync separator? Thanks.
Funny thing is I just found out that my SG doesn't work properly with MV-1F while there is no problem at all with MV-1C. In the case of MV-1F the S-video and composite work fine but the component signal turns on and off frequently and randomly. I am really confused. Does this make any sense to anyone? Does this have anything to do with the sync signal? Any help would be great.

Could have something to do with sync, but I've never seen that.

A sync separator is normally used to strip the sync signal from a composite video line, making it more usable for other components that may be fickle. And since there is pretty much no regulation across the JAMMA standard as far as video, the sync signal you get varies in composition. I used Jeff's NeoBitz and noticed that some boards gave really whack output, where the screen would be fuzzy, out of sync, or scrambled. At Jeff's suggestion I installed an LM1881N (with the necessary caps and resistor) in the line with a switch (some boards wig out with it in there) and it fixed the problem! The NeoBitz, though designed to work with Neo, works with over 100 different JAMMA boards and counting! Thanks to ForeverSublime for a bulk of that testing.

Hey D-Lite, I know this is runnin' off on a bit of a tangent, but is there documentation on the web somewhere for these 100 or so board sets that do work with the NeoBitz encoder, and of course those that don't work also? Twould be great to see the results on a wide range of hardware, plus I'd be keen to add to it myself if I have anything that hasn't yet been tested. Good work on all those guns too man, you're a regular production line boyo!! Not me though, one piece at a time is all I can ever seem to concentrate on. :oh_no:

Okay I tried LM1881N(w/ caps & resistors). It doesn't do any good. The component signals still go on and off all the time. However, I find that when I unwire the ground on the component RCA jack, the signal becomes stable(but the color is wrong). Any idea to clear this issue? By the way, the s-video and composite work just fine w/ or w/o sync seperator. Also notice that this problem only happen when I connect the SG to MV-1F, everything works fine in the case of MV-1C. Ideas?

i found the rgb values are too high on most other pcbs and systems.
a pot or resistor before all rgb signals should help.
plus i found a cap in line will help sync in the picture on some pcbs.
i have a super nova from massystem . i still use both there svideo board and neo bits board at the same time.
all my systems rgb run to a selector box then to a custom board i made(limits rgb and some other stuff to get genesis to work)then the rgb goes to the neo bitz board. working on a rgb amp for my turbo duo now. then i will be all set.

had to replace the ceramic cap with the other kind when the board started to heat up my video would lose sync. started in a toasty spot above my sony reseiver

I have the current list on my site in the Supergun Building section, specifically under Encoders:

For Neo you shouldn't have to use the sync separator for S-Video or composite as it was designed for Neo. That's more for other boards (CPS2, Atomiswave, etc)

Grounding will definitely have a big effect on the output. But no idea why you have different results on two different Neo boards.

I'm always impressed when I see this kind of home made works. Congratulations to all.
