Gentlemen... :kekeke:

In my neverending quest of collecting the most exstensive and complete NEOGEO knowledge, I've always tried to gather information about those particular MVS title which was not distributed in the domestic Japanese market, together with protos and other 'cancelled' games.

Here is the information I've gathered since now. Any addition, correction, or even just comment would be highly appreciated.

1) MVS-only titles (no AES)

YEAR 1994

1994/05/25 - NGH067 - Face - Gururin - 40megs
1994/06/28 - NGH060 - Viccom - Fight Fever - 98megs
1994/06/29 - NGH048 - Yubis/Aicom -Janshin Densetsu [Quest of Jongmaster] - megs82
1994/09/13 - NGH076 - NMK - Sakusen'na "Ragnarok" [OperationRagnarok] - 110megs
1994/10/19 - NGH068 - Video System - Power Spikes II - 82megs
1994/12/21 - NGH083 - Taito - Puzzle Bobble - 32megs

All these 1994 games had official Japanese MVS release. Official JPN MVS art is available. Janshin Densetsu, Power Spikes II (distributed arcade-wise by TAITO)and Puzzle Bobble also had a NGCD release. As everybody knows, the tentative (proto) title of Power Spikes II was 'Super Volley '94' (with official flyers sporting that titles)

YEAR 1995

1995/01/18 - NGH073 - Eighting/Hudson - ~BomberMan~ Panic Bomber - 46meg
1995/09/?? - NGH209 - Visco - Goal! Goal! Goal! - 126megs
1995/11/28 - NGH202 - Visco - Puzzle de Pon! - 30megs

All these 1994 games were distributed in domestic Japan, yet it's doubtful if Goal! Goal! Goal! ever had an 'official release'. As we will see, Visco MVS often had messy distribution. I don't even know if a Japanese MVS art for Goal! Goal! Goal! does exist, as Visco often printed just bilingual (eng-jpn) art sets and flyers. This may also be the case of Puzzle de Pon!

YEAR 1996
1996/03/28 - NGH213 - Visco - Neo DriftOut ~New Technology~ - 114megs
1996/07/19 - NGH219 - Saurus - Futsal ~5 on 5 Mini Soccer~ - 146megs
1996/??/?? - NGH086 - Tecmo - Tecmo World Soccer '96 - 122megs
1996/??/?? - NGH 208 - Technos - Kunio no Nekketsu Toukyuu [DodgeBall] Densetsu - 190megs
1996/??/?? - NGH235 - Visco - Puzzle de Pon! R - 32megs

1996 is a messy year. Only Neo Drift Out got a proper MVS-JPN release (but again, just a bilingua flyer, a là Visco). While released in NGCD formta, Futsal never got a Japanese MVS release, and it's still considered to the Japanese NeoScene pretty much as Brikin'ger (CD esxisting, MVS supposed). Tecmo World Soccer never got an official JPN-MVS release, but eventually was distributed in domestic Japan. I guess JPN art (or flyer at least actually exists. Then, the dodgeball game: very famous Japanese fraincise (Kunio-kun!), but never ever distributed in the Japanese marked. No JPN art or flyer has ever be seen. The only public appareance of this title in Japan seems to having been durin a 'Wonder Land Carnival' in Ikebukuro. As for Puzzle de Pon! R, that one was never distributed in Japan too. If you look closely, you will discover this is basically an 'official hackjob' of the original one. No new graphics. Even the 'R' in the in-game logo is made up using a reversed 'P' from 'Puzzle', plus a 'piece' of a reversed L in 'Puzzle' again. No JPN art or flyer has ever be seen, not even bilingual. Possibly it was just a rushed cheaply-hacked re-release of the original made for the western/european maket (where the first title did pretty well).

Year 1997

1997/??/?? - NGH237 - Video System - Gapporin - 58megs
1997/01/15 - NGH231 - Face - Money Idol Exchanger - 78megs
1997/05/01 - NGH093 - Hudson - Neo BomberMan - 138megs
1997/06/26 - NGH207 - Visco/Universal - Neo Mr.Do! - 50megs
1997/08/25 - NGH236 - SNK/Saurus - ~Ucchan Nanchan no Honou no Challenger~ Ultra Denryuu IraIra Bou - 106megs
1997/11/11 - NGH238 - Saurus - Shock Troopers - 346megs

Gapporin (eng title: Pop'N'Bounce) is a bit of a mistery. Its tentative (proto) title seem to be 'Ookiiku Fukuramasete Gapporin', when it was shown at the 7/97 AM Show. Neverless, the game never had an official JPN release, then popped out in the western market, and eventually was distributed in Japan too. Neverless, no JPN artset existes. Only a bilingual flyer finally surfaced (thanks to NeoBomberman), where we discover the game was supposed to be dstributed by Visco (hence the typical bilingual material?). Money Idol, Neo BomberMan, Neo Mr.Do! all got a proper JPN release (of coure, Nee Mr.Do! only had bilingual flyer, again Visco style). The 'Ultra Denryuu IraIra Bou' is another special case, being nothing but 'Irritating Maze'. It was distruted in Japan, just for the special-trackball set. A 'joystick version' was lately produced by NGF (this is for real, and working). It's unclear if that's some sort of hackjob of an actual proto. Finally, Shock Troopers had a proper Japanese release, with JPN art and all. It also had two MVS edition, the latter being just a difficulty-balance revision (pretty much as Magician Lord).

YEAR 1998

1998/07/03 - NGH245 - Visco - Breakers Revenge - 242megs
1998/12/08 - NGH247 - Visco - Battle Flip Shot - 46megs

Breakers sequel had a proper official release in Japan (even if supposedly with the usual bilingual art material). Flip Shot is another story. It went on playtest in 1998/10 in Japan at Kawasaki Silk Hat, Even if it seems it was released in Japan, distribution is doubtful. Japanese art is yet to be seen, possibly existing just in bilingual form.

YEAR 1999

1999/??/?? - NGH248 - Taito - Puzzle Bobble 2 - 154megs
1999/??/?? - NGH252 - Visco - Musashi Ganryuuki - 178megs
1999/05/25 - NGH249 - Visco - Captain Tomaday - 106megs
1999/09/27 - NGH255 - Yumekobo - Prehistoric Isle 2 ~Genshitou~ - 478megs
1999/12/24 - NGH254 - Psikyo - Strikers 1945 Plus - 682megs

Puzzle Bobble 2 never saw a JPN-MVS release (it was release in jamma-only form in Japan). As for Ganryu and Tomaday, those two were both announced in Japan by Visco together with FlipShot, though arcade magazines. Tomaday was eventually released just as FlipShot (bilingual art set), while Ganryuu never ever saw nor a release nor a distribution in domestic Japan. No Japanese art (not even bilingual) has ever be seen.

-
YEAR 2000

2000/??/?? - NGH259 - Visco - Bang Bead - 170megs

Obscure Visco release, pretty much as Ganryu. Initially believed to be a proto or a hack of FlipShot (and still considered as such in Japan). It went on location test in Jinbouchou Tilt. Never ever released or distributed in Japan. As with Ganryu, no Japanese art at all as ever popped out.

-
YEAR 2001

2001/01/27 - NGH260 - Gavaking/Eleven - Nightmare in the Dark - 166megs
2001/09/?? - NGH070 - Face/SNK - ZuPaPa! - [46] 153megs

Both game we offically release in Japan, with art sets and all. Zupapa story is well know (being and old canned project by Face, presented at the 94/02 AOU Show, revived in the last days of former SNK)

-
YEAR2002

2003/12/?? - NGH267 - Aiky/Taito - Pochi to Nya~ - ???

The game was offically release in Japan, with art sets and all. Produced by Aiki, seem to have been distributed by Taito and Visco.

And here it is! If there's interest, I may think to compile a similar braekdown for protos too! :)
