Hopefully someone can help me with this.

Recently, I picked up Quest of the jong master and it has ignited my passion for mvs mah jong games.

Is it possible to wire a mah jong control panel off the jamma harness or is a a mah jong controller required?

I think I remember seeing a dip sheet layout where swtich 4 or something was for mah jong.

I'm looking to build a mvs-mah jong cab, so any info would be helpful.

thanks

I'm sure there's a way to wire up a mahjong control panel... If you mean what i think you mean, then you are doing sorta what I will do with the controls (only mine is for extra players and stuff)... if you want it to be romovable, what you will need to get are:
More wires (2 per pin... I will explain later)
molex connectors (male and female... dsub connectors would also work, and would be smaller, but I like molex better... I think 15 pin molex connectors would be more than sufficient)
wire loom (not necessary, but looks nicer, and protects wires more... heatshrink, and rubber tubing would also work)
and your mahjong control panel...
for making it non-removable, all you need are more wires, a loom, and your cp.

Now the how to...
ok... first, you will need to figure out what pins you want to work on your mahjong cp... then, you splice one wire to each of the wires already in the harness to get sort-of a y... you should route the existing harness wires to the original cp, then route the new wires to the molex connector (you will need to put molex pins on the ends of each of these wires, and decide where you want to place them in the connector [I would put the male molex connector on the end connecting directly to the new wires]) ... ok... then, cut the other half of the wires to a desired length, dress them up, put the other molex connector on these wires, and connect the other ends of the wires to the switches on the underside of your mahjong control panel... and there you have it... if I understand your question right... if you don't understand my ramblings, say so, and I'll try to clarify... or someone else will get here first and answer for me... so yup... I hope it works for you, and enjoy!
