Hi. I'm about to change the battery in my Street Fighter 3 Third Strike cart, but I just need to know whether I need the 3.8 mm or 4.5 mm bit to actually open up the cart. Oh and does anyone know where I can buy the battery in the US? Any help is appreciated.

Get Raz to whip you up some rom fixes... he charges 30 euros, and you never have to deal with the battery again... except cutting it out completely.

I think he can only do this with CPS2 not CPS3 I may be wrong though.

ooh... right... cps 3... talk to raz anyways... he may have come up with some way to fix them... otherwise, I've seen the batteries on ebay a couple of times in the last month. Try there... I don't know of any "store" that sells them.

Not to speak for him, but the answer is no. He doesn't deal with CPS3 yet, to my knowledge. I already asked. ;)

Thanks for the replies guys. I was actually able to get both 3.8 and 4.5 mm gamebits on ebay for like 7 bucks for both. As for the battery, luckily I found the exact one. Now I just gotta cross my fingers and hope I don't kill my game.

Being an owner of a CPS3 machine, I'm dying for a full report from you on this, Scott. For years to come yours will be looked at and studied when the rest of us have to do battery changes via the search function. Don't be shy, make sure you give us the full scoop, and (of course) good luck.

I pmed him about two or three weeks ago, and he said he might try to now.
So that it's a bit of hope.

I can't fix CPS3 games so be carefull when changing the battery. Its not as easy as CPS2 where you can remove one totally and place on another. I have heard that you have to change the battery while the system is on and running but I have never changed a battery on a CPS3 game myself.

Regards, Raz

I would suggest putting the new battery in parallel with the old one then removing the old one.

May involve soldering new battery in on leads to different points or to the tracks directly.

Safer than working on a live board !

I have also written the thing in english. I don't know if the english is perfect but i hope you will understand.

For the size of the battery, it depends where the old battery is soldered on your cardridge. As you can see, there are 2 holes to solder the + of the battery. Normally, it works with all the sizes.
In addition, I have proceed to some other tests. You can use a battery for CPS2 (3,6V). It works well too.
