well, I know it's something with the game, because the other games don't do it...

there's a half inch line that is wavey...and goes down the missle of the screen...

I don't think it will burn in, since it's always moving and I don't play that game for long periods of time...but what do you think the problem could be?

you can see part of it on the end of the last letter..

Made a new harness and the line is now way harder to see, but it's stays still.

Should I be worried about burn in? How long would I have to play it before it burned in? I don't see myself playing it for more then an hour at once....and not extremely often.

should I be ok?

Oh, and I tried it without the harness at all..so straight on the board...and the line is still there. It's WAY WAY harder to see now than in that picture. You can't see it at all during play...but on a black screen, you can see it if you're looking hard.

I'd say try putting a ground wire from a corner spot, some ground spot on the pcb to the frame on the monitor chassis..

I'd have to see what ttooddddyy has to say about that..

I wonder if it went away if you lowered the brightness..

I don't think an hour a day will cause burn in..

are you sure its only with this game, it looks more like a "S correction" (east - west modulation problem) or "rope mark" with the monitor. Strange that it would only show up on one game ?

Edit: poor regulation of the monitor +B supply can cause this, maybe a cap kit will help. Grounding between the mobo and monitor chassis may also be an issue.
It looks very much like a "rope mark" thats caused by interference induced in the monitor due to proximity with some unusual source which can be tricky to locate. Try re running the harness.

As Chris said try running a seperate ground wire from the boardset to the monitor chassis.

This is a meaty topic and we can fix it, trust me, Im a doctor

btw, burn in is not an issue here, running the monitor like that will not cause permanent damage to the crt.

I don't get any line when using any other games of mine. This game puts the line on there with both cabs, yet the h64, or neo 4 slots won't....and either will crime city or daraku tenshi. When I switched from the 1 inch length harness adapter I made, to one with no wire in between, the line went from wavey to thinner, lighter, and stopped waving all together. That's why I thought it was a game issue.

I'll run a ground to the monitor chassis, but does it have to connect to the pcb? Or can I get it off of any ground?

If it's not a burn issue....then honestly, I don't see it ever being a problem, as it's only this game.

first thing to try is running a wire from the mobo ground and the monitor ground.
London to a brick, that will fix the problem.

I did a search on video ropemarks and all that came up was sm bondage :oh_no:

Potentially its occuring on all other games, maybe not so noticable though.

Edit-run a seperate wire to ground the ground of the cart so to speak.
Just a thought

I grounded the chassis...not sure what your edit means above though...line is still there.
