Does anyone know of a electronics company which sells rgb to ntsc encoder chips so i can build a backup encoder for my super gun. I know what your going to say buy one from jrok, the one I am currently using is from him, it works good but was expensive. Like I said I just need another encoder as a back up just in case.

The nice thing about the AD devices (724/725) is that they send a couple FOC for evaluation purposes. From my experience they work fine for MVS but not for some other boardsets, MK series for example.

You can always take the cxa encoder chip out of a Sega Genesis.....

I like the AD725, especially when you use the luma trap. Also, it's very very nice of them to ship them to me for free whenever I need one... All the needed schematics are in the PDF datasheet. I bought a board with a cxa based enocoder on it, doesn't have a luma trap so the composite (CVBS) doesn't look very good (bleedy colors, striping). S-video (Y/C) output is decent though.
