Sorry... I seem to be spamming up this forum... but I have honest questions and I don't know how to delete a threand... anyways... here's my questions... How would I go about trying to hook up a whoop ass car stereo system into a neo/jamma cab so that the sound quality would be awesome, and would feel like actual bombs exploding in games like metal slug?

Well... You don't necessarily need the Best speakers... The thing doesnt Output DOLBY DIGITAL or anything like that, just 16-bit sound, nothing fancy. But if you DID go through with it, be careful with the way you mount things... If you had Crazy bass, Things would rattle, Perhaps loosen connections or screws, and even the MVS Carts.... Also, a Secondary power-supply/splitter would be needed to power that bad boy.

It really just boils down to how bad you want to do it, because it won't do much but make it louder.

If I were you I would post in a car Hi Fi forum to get better infos. You know the kind of sound output you have on you cab and just ask there "ok, how can I get the best from this??"

is it worth it, to get twice as "loud" takes 10 x power rating - do you really want to anoy the neighbours. the mvs has about 10 wrms standard (both channels combined in stereo mode) thats plenty.

I don't want it loud necessarilly... I want a rich sound... with actual bass... The speakers I've got are a couple of little 3 inch speakers... they have pretty much no bass, and limitted midrange... I want FULL sound... not just high range...

I would look at better speakers before amping up.
Consider magnetically shielded speakers to avoid crt purity issues

Yeah, Pretty much what I said. It'll only be as good as it puts out... And it doesn't put out DTS, so, The only thing You CAN do, is get Stereo, and Louder. Thats it.

There's got to be a way to modify the audio to make the quality better... Of course I would get better speakers... MUCH better speakers... and I'd also need an amp or two... but... there's got to be a way to boost the audio quality right? Possibly routing audio directly from component on mobo instead of using the jamma connection? I dunno... are the games coded with the 16 bit audio as you said? I've also got a cps-2... don't they have better sound? and also... I was thinking about possibly hooking up a dvd player to the monitor in the cab (since it DOES have the biggest screen in my room)... I also would need to know how to wire rca to rgb for that though...

Where to star?

A car stereo is a waste...
A car Amp maybe. It will probably require another power supply.

I'd go with an old cheap stereo amp.

Upgrade those speakers.

FOr MVS, use the headphone output. It's much cleaner
For CPSII, use the RCA jacks.
For the Jamma, use a attenuation circuit unless your stereo/amp has speaker level inputs.

I've got two 12" subwoofers, a pair of spinners, and some fuzzy dice hanging right above the screen of my cab. Hydraulics are in the planning stages - I'm hoping to be able to lean my cab over at a 45 degree angle on command.

Does your joystick top have an 8 Ball or a Skull?

You really need a sit down with a chain link steering wheel.

subs aren't everything either... if all you've got are sub, your cab will sound worse than my current one... all muddy and stuff... eww...

btw... what is this attenuation circuit of which you speak?

I wired a little Bazooka tube/car sub to the headphone jack on a 4 slot. It's powered by my power supply. It's cool, and adds a little bass. Better speakers aren't really the way to go; the sound isn't that clean and pure coming out of the Neo anyways. It's very simple to wire up a powered sub; that's really all you need!

the talk about the powered sub got me thinking. I've got a powered sub with RCA inputs, it plugs into the wall so there won't be any power issues. I have a cable with a 3.5 mm jack on one end, and 2 RCA jacks on the other. If I run this from the headphone jack to the sub will this damage my 4-slot cab in any way? I don't want to fry the sound circuit or something. If it is safe, is there anywhere else to run it from so I don't have a cable sticking out of my cab?

Thanks!

you would be more likely to damge the sub than the PCB......

you probably wouldnt hurt anything (i'm running a pair of old pc speakers out of the headphone jack on my 4 slot) but TURN DOWN THE VOLUME FIRST! It's easy to blow out speakers ^_^

Actually you could run an output from the cab into a Rockford Fosgate 6:1 encoder and have dts.

a good sub turns anotherwise average game like MK3 into a fucking experience.. do it man!

i just use PC stereo set that can be bought anywhere for cheap, my metalcased neocab acts as a huge speaker in itself and the sub is small and easy to fit inside.
never heard better arcade-sound.

ofcourse youll never get as clearcrisp sound from an arcade as youd get from a highend hifi system tho...
