Strange board in early aes system?

Say I have a question about my AES system. I just got it off of ebay and popped it open to take a peek to see what the board looked like to mod it. I checked out the mega mod how-to and I have a question about my board.
What is the brown board that is located over the memory card slot? The wireing from it goes all the way back to the area for the s-video mod and seems to be soldered in. Any thoughts? I would like to still mod my system but with this wireing it seems way tight to do so. Thanksfor any help you guys can give.

That's known as the video sub-board. Some of the first gen Neo systems were sent back to SNK to fix an interference problem (so the story goes).

It has no affect on the mods -- just might get in your way a little as you're working.
