Ok, So, I have a coin door,

http://www.palomarcheer.com/images/Coin%20Door%20(2).JPG

http://www.palomarcheer.com/images/Coin Door.JPG

Coins just fall straight through it. (Obviously)

What am I missing?

What are the parts to a coin door, Diagram, how does it work? The coin door has always been a mystery to me.

Thanks,

Mulletron.

Looks like you are missing the coin mechs..and maybe a few other parts..(I can't get the top links to work.)
It's hard to tell exactly what coin mech you will need..
Sometimes your better off just buying a whole other complete coin door ..like this one..(because it's cheaper to)

I was going to bid on this below auction but I'm not sure if the small plastic piece on this door will fit to what I need it for so I'll pass..
Over Under Coin Door Complete With Coin Mechs & Bin Item number: 6167968560

OR..
Over-under coindoor $9.99 MAME or jamma coin door ~BB~ Item number: 6168193197

You'd just have to ask Mark if this has all it's needed parts.

COIN DOOR comes up several items on Ebay,so that's just two..

Otherwise check these threads.

Just looking at the pics, it looks like you still have the switch that the coin trips when it drops out of the mech. You should be able to still "coin up" the machine and play, but as Chris1 says, you are missing the coin mechs and therefore you won't be able to use quarters to start the game.

From your Pics it looks like you need the Bolt in Coin Mechs..

Those two rounded parts with the hole in the center throw me off because I don't see that in any of my Cabs..

Bolt-In Coin mechs? But my thing is just a standard over under one... but its missing a bunch of pieces... like.. I think I have a few pieces... but its only enough for one side, and I have NO clue how to put them together. I guess my main question is what is a Bolt In Coin mech, and why do you think I need it? Is it different than buying a brand new over under?

Mulletron. (yeah, I know its like... 1AM, lol)

Mulletron: coin mechanisms are fairly standard to install. If you wish, you live some 20 miles from me (highway 74), drop on by with the door some4time, will show you how to work with it.

Wow, Sounds like a plan, set a date and time through PM or whatever, I'm off all wek, from spring break, and work, luckily they both fell on the same week, I was stoked, but yeah, that'd be fantastic.

It looks like you need these...

From your pictures, it looks like you have the same type of door as me... with the same brackets and all... so... if it helps any to see what kind I have... there they are...

If Its any consolation, I found some little plastic piece that looks like it could fit in to some mechanism, but clearly wont do the job alone... I suppose I'm in the market for a new door.

OR, If you guys can confirm what I need, saving me a few bucks, That'd be great.

I'll post updates and take more pictures by request.

You might try checking out Bob Roberts... his site is www.therealbobroberts.com . He's helped me with my cab, and has competitive prices... I think he has coin mechs too... His site is kinda screwy, but just go down to the very bottom, and click the links down there... the coin mechs should be on the "parts page" below the cap kits near the bottom... Just e-mail him, and see if he can help you... the worst he'll do is say he can't help.

Wow, I've been hearing of this site for a while, but you actually told me where to find the stuff... Wow... This guy is amazing.. I set out the order for 2 coin mechs... WAY Cheaper than Happ or any other place I could find, Even E-bay... I'm coming here way more often, thanks. This thread isn't dead though, I might have trouble putting it in (Probably not)

Thanks.

The 8 dollar coin mechs... Here...

http://www.homearcade.org/BBBB/cmnew.jpg

And a white button for "Select Game":

http://homearcade.org/BBBB/9100l.jpg

I have the Jamma already setup for the button, I just need.. well... The button, lol. Also, I sanded, Primed, and Re-painted the cabinet, its lookin fresh. I cut the Marquee that was 2 inches too long, and now it fits sung, mounted the Board to the wall, and the power supply and isolation transformer to the bottom, this Arcade has been loved, and is ready for the general public. I just have tp wait for the mechs, the button, and the monitor. (Lol, thats nearly everything) but its coming together well, for only 400$ Total.

Thanks guys,

Mulletron.

$400 total?! How did you pull THAT off?... the one I'm building now has set me back ALOT more than that... though... I guess if I just accounted a basic neo cab, it would be about... $672...(btw, mine is nowhere NEAR basic [8 button layouts, four player lap controlers{two of which are switchable from cab cp}, quick interchangeable JAMMA and NEO GEO{with jamma adapter connected into a multijamma}, harnesses pre-assembled and pathed for pcbs with extra needed connections{kick harnesses, gun harnesses, etc.}, and quick access to pretty much any modification to make a game work... it'll be sweet  ], [sorry about that diversion... :emb: I'm really excited about what it will come out of this project], and is costing ALOT more) How did you get down to 400?... Did you buy a pre-assembled cab? are you including the neo pcb?

Well, that picture you see on my previous topic of "MONITOR BROKEN!?!?", the very first one, is not at my house, it was at the previous owners, on E-bay. He was selling it for 300$, but wouldn't ship it. I said to myself.. "Damn, thats a great deal.. too bad he doesnt live... OH SHOOT! HE LIVES 5 MINUTES FROM ME!" Got the machine, Have had to spend 22$ on coin Mechs, 60 Bucks to fix the monitor,(..., lol) and 20 bucks for touch up. Roughly 400 dollars for this machine... Would have been cheaper if I didn't dick with the monitor, I would have gotten Metal Slug or Bust a Move or somethin. Yeah, but its a start, definately a great start.

I was considering building my next one, Is it not cost effective? Explain why yours is costing so much, if its not too much of a problem.

Thanks.

Well... while building my own machine, I had to pay for all the components seperately I'll break down some of the costs that I've paid...
wood for the cab - 100
25"monitor - 160 +shipping (about 25 with the bulk discount of buying 3 monitors)
2-slot neo mvs - 110
buttons and joysticks for four player sets - about 50 (a little less)
power kit (ac and dc) (harness comes with power kits)- 100
coin door (fully functional with mechs and all... :make_fac: ) - 80
other hardware for cab (l-brackets, screws, etc...) - 50
rockin' marquee dislay - 25

stuff I have yet to buy, but have seen some prices:
Lighting fixture for marquees - 20

and other game hardwares and extra gizmos and ideas:
cps-2 +xmen cota - 86
ssf 2 cps2 - 30
2 neo counter leds from ckchan - 30
extra wiring harnesses (two types for now) - 30
6 mvs games (ms2, puzzle bobble, ffs, wh2, and soccer brawl) - 150-200?
6 jamma games (rabbit punch, tekken 2, run and gun, desert assault, fighters history, and knuckle heads) - 150?
molex connectors - 25
wiring supplies (terminals etc...) - 10

All my pricing is approximate of course...

Stuff I will buy... eventually:

Ah, Well, Your setup (As well as More than 90% of the people here) is for fun and collecting, Mine is a small business thing. I work at Home Depot, we don't get discounts, but I know loopholes so I can't get wood practically Free. I figure my totals like this...

Wood: 30$
Plexiglass for Marquee and Monitor Protection = 30$
Graphically Screen the Marquee - (I'm in highschool, its free there) = 0$
Screws and Wire and Light Fix: I have tons = 0$
Power Supply/Isolation Transformer = 50$ (Bob Roberts)
Jamma Wiring Joysticks What not - 40$ (Ebay)
Coin Door - 20$ (E-Bay as well)
Monitor - I know a guy = 60$ (No shipping)
PCB - Varies... I don't wanna go over 100, but for this purpose = 100$
Paint - 10$

Total = 340$

Thats a LITTLE more than I'd want to spend, but its enough to set up in a place and make a few bucks.

I also know this is a tad bit off-topic, but I have to wait For Mr. Roberts to send my coin mechs before I maybe have some new Questions.

A little bit of a bump, but for a good cause. Today, I have just recieved and installed my Coin Mechs, it accepts money perfectly. Bob Roberts was very prompt, as expected, and thanks once again guys! Oh, also I added a select button successfully. However, my monitor they said was "Broken beyond repair" (yeah right) but they are going to furnish me a new one, so I'm not complaining.

Thanks!
