Well guys here comes a NOOB QUESTION !!! I think :spock: Hope you guys can help me out with this.

I saw the MPEG Movies from NGBC I want to buy it when it comes out. So I was wondering How can I put together an Atomiswave Arcade on my own? So I ask you guys, What do I need to get or buy for an Atomiswave Arcade beside the Mother Board with the games and the cabinet? and where I can get it? Now, lets say that I buy an Atomiswave Kit from the Neostore, What else do I need for my own Atomiswave Arcade? I will appreciate any info...THANKS!!!

:help:

Well, basically you only need a JAMMA compatible cab, and the game kit (motherboard + game cart) and that's all. The kit will be able to be bough in many on-line arcade dealers, you should check first how to get cabs in your local area.
You don't need a special cab to play the AW, but a dedicated AW one would possible be the best (and most expensive) way to go. The cab will need to have 5 buttons. Many people has complained that the AW video output is too bright in a regular cab, but you should be able to tune brightness in the cab.
Finally, in a regular cab with a 15 khz monitor the AW will only work in low res, you would need a special 31khz monitor cab to play the AW in hi res, but a game like NGBC will possibly look better in low res anyway.

Last but not least, you don't need a cab to play the AW, you can also use a device called "supergun" that will allow you to play it in your TV like a regular console.

OK That's great!! But I read that those supergun only work with Neo Geo Jamma board and from some pictues that I saw it only has neo geo controller adapter. Where can I find one that works with the Atomiswave Board? Do you think that it's better buying a supergun?

Just to make things clear, The kit will certainly be sold new for more than 1000 dollars plus shipping after my idea. So be prepared for a nice bill.

Because those kits are much older. When an arcade game is just released, it usually has a price of around 1000$. After some months, the price starts dropping.

Robert is right, when NGBC is released it will certainly cost more than 1000$. However after a year it will possibly have dropped to around 500$. The kits at the neostore are more than a year old (except neowave, that's why it is the most expensive one).

"Supergun" is a generic name, it can be built to match the specifications and needs wanted. Certainly the AW can be used in any JAMMA supergun as long as it has the 5 buttons wired and you use a suitable controller. Check:

http://www.neo-geo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=91033

It's up to you to decide what is better, supergun or cab.

The "black box" is a supergun, and as I have said in the other posts, is all you need to play the AW in a TV. Many members here build and sell them, you can order one, check the market forums. Just make sure to mention you want it for AW usage so it should have 5 buttons wired, and you would need a 5 buttons controller of course. A Neo stick could work as long as the 5th button is the Select one, not very comfortable in some games I guess.

If you want a supergun that works with atomiswave and Neo, you should contact D-Lite -- he builds nice units.

Amano: Did you try to play Naomi games with the supergun? How is the quality on the TV?

Is it true that you can play Naomi 1 games on Naomi 2 board?

Yeah, I did, with the Capcom I/O. The image quality is pretty good in the TV, but most Naomi games look better in hi-res in a PC monitor.

Yes, it's true. In adition, the GD drive is the same for both Naomi 1 and 2.

The Naomi is not a JAMMA board. If you want to use it in a JAMMA set-up (cab or supergun), you need and I/O. Those are the 2 existant models. The first one is the Capcom one, the one I have, and the best one. With it you can use the Naomi almost like a regular JAMMA board. The other one, the Sega, needs a separate power supply and depending on the set-up a sound amp.

Yes. The video output of the naomi is through a VGA connector. With a switch you can select it to be hi or low res. In hi-res it works in my regular PC VGA monitor. The Atomiswave also has a VGA connector that works in the same way, the only difference is that the AW also outputs RGB video through the JAMMA harness, while you need an I/O to do that in the Naomi.

I apologize for straying away from the current discussion in place between Senjuro Hiko and Amano Jacu but another reliable person with whom to contact to set yourself up with a supergun is supergoose77. I've only heard satisfactory remarks and compliments about him and he has made someone a consolized atomiswave already. So far, he has said that he will decline any further requests for atomiswave superguns, but I'm pretty sure if you offer him the right price, he might just be willing to relive the agonizing experience.
Other than that, I can tell you that as far as I know, D-Lite makes the best NeoGeo superguns, I know people where I live who had their superguns constructed by Dean and last I checked, they were pretty happy with their consolized MVS units. Satisfied customers, eh, Dean? :tickled:
