Tricking a Cab to Play Vertical shooters horizontally

Could you change the wiring of your joystick harness to make Up-Left and Down Right and so on so that you could play something like Ikkaruga on a horizontal cab? Other than the text being sideways it should control fine, right?

I can't play verts like this. I die a lot more than when the game scrolls correctly for some weird reason.

Just get a candy cab with a rotatable monitor. That's the ideal solution.

just change the places of the microswitches on your joystick, easy as pie :)

If you go through with this,it would mean that you'll have to keep switching the microswitches back and forth in order to play horizontal games...

Instead of changing the wireing all the time, use one of these:

maybe his monitor is a pain to rotate?

changing the micro switches takes about 5 mins and a monkey could do it

im in no way suggesting i recommend it, verts should be played vertically.. but why not present an alternative since he asked :)

I am thinking of getting a supergun to play mainly shooters. I do not want to have to buy a special monitor to play. Any info would be nice.

Not all..

Giga Wing, Marx matrix (I think) and the verticle shoots on the Neo don't.....

But most Vericle SHooters will play from left to right on a normal monitor....

Play it in mame....

If it takes up the whole screen, then it works on a horizontal monitor.

IF it is cropped on the sides, then it requires a verticle monitor...

If wanted you could wire up a 4-pole-2-position switch. Wire one set for one orientation and the other orientation the other way. No changing microswitches this way!
