I recently bought a CPS-2 system , and have been reading alot about the suicide battery part of the games sucking much ass  ... Did I read in a previous forum that there is a way to make the boards suicide free? If so... how do you do it? (I have an x-men cota right now) Thanks!

Unless you know how to do it yourself, you have to send the board roms to Razoola, check: http://cps2shock.retrogames.com/
You could also just swap the battery yourself from time to time.

Well... Id rather have the experience of doing it myself (if for no other reason than to say I can :D ). Also, I'm seriously thinking of buying an eprom programmer, and I would want to utalize t to it's fullest, and not just use it once every couple of years when a new universe bios comes out. BTW... where can you buy eproms anyways? :conf:

Suicidal CPS-2?

Just get it into counseling as soon as you can. Also, take any shoelaces, belts and sheets out of the same room as your boards.

I recommends some heavy psychotropics, though.. but I guess that really comes down to how much you care about your cabs.

I doubt you have the rom hacking abilities to do the fix yourself, but I think it would be possible to have Raz e-mail or something the already fixed rom files needed for the suicide-free mod, and then burn them yourself. If the game roms are erasable maybe you don't need to buy more.

Raz won't supply the fixed rom files for download, so I really doubt he'd send them via email. And yes, one doesn't need any more eproms as the game roms are indeed erasable.

Anyways, I can vouch for Raz as well, he fixed my whole CPS-2 collection (14 games in all), and now everything works fine without a stinkin' battery.

Well, I meant that as a possibility, of course it all depends on Raz's will.

Take care that I guess anybody could just dump the fixed roms he got sent from him anyway.

I contacted raz... he said that he would email them to me as long as I had current proof of having the game (a picture with suicide and the date on it), and also a "dump of the games program roms"... whatever that means... for a fee... 30 euros... is that around what he charged other people?

Yeah, seems about right if I remember correctly (must have been more than a year ago that I had my boards fixed though so take this with a grain of salt).
