Picked this up yesterday and didn't have much time to play but today I really tore into to this monster. Kinda reminds me of Ninja Gaiden/DMC. Anybody else pick this up?

The only thing I know about this game is that I saw a commericla for it on the TV.

Who makes/distributes it??

The commercial makes it look cool.

Played it briefly (about an hour) yesterday. I really didn't have any interest in it, but my friend went ahead and bought it. It's not too bad. Looks great for a PS2 game. I'm just not too into the genre in all honesty.

If you like these types of games though, it's a good one.

Sony made this one, which surprised me for some reason.

I've only played the demo, and while it is in the same genre as DMC and NG I'd have to say it resembles Castlevania: Lament of Innocence the most. Right down to the combo system and defensive moves, it's just exactly like it. That said, I'm going to rent it tomorrow and give it a playthrough.

Yuh-huh. Picked it up today along with some PSP games, and GoW is GREAT. Being a huge fan of unadulterated action, I pretty much thought Devil May Cry 3 was the be all and end all (just slightly ahead of Ninja Gaiden, since it's harder and there aren't the money moves like in NG), but now I'm thinking there may be a tie at the top. Sick combo ability, awesome soundtrack, best graphics I've seen on PS2, lot of variety, hard to find a flaw so far.

Oh, and Kratos' twin blades are among the cooler weapons I've ever seen in a game.

You get a $10 giftcard w/purchase at Circuit City, BTW.

I disagree. Lament of Innocence can't even compare to God of War.

God of War makes.... Lament of Innocence.... its bitch.

I'm not saying quality-wise, I mean control wise.
Hell, the controller layout is even the same.

I think I'll look into who made each and whatever else while I'm thinking about it.

Now that I think about it, this game is fairly close to Castlevania:LOI. I've just finished playing this game for about 4 hours straight and I have to admit I enjoyed every blood splashing minute. The only thing that seems a little weird is the boob shots from enemies/gods. I've been waiting for this game since I saw the previews @ E3 and so far I haven't been disappointed. Oh well, gotta sleep..

I read it as "That guy roker, he plays like a lame beat 'em up."

Your guess is as good as mine, though I recommend you snap him back to maintain your street cred.

This is a problem. You see, this post is clearly written in English, which I am pretty fluent in. Yet I have no idea what the fuck you are talking about.

i want to bone in a video game.
a video game that's not san andreas.

From what I've read at Gamefags the much-talked about sex thing is actually interactive, though off the screen. It's a timed button hitting thing, just like with the boss fights or some bigger enemies I guess. Apparently you can also level off it somehow. or at least boost some stat or another.

God of War is AWESOME. I've been reading nothing but good reviews about the game, so I decided to rent the game last night. I played the first couple of levels and this one has me seriously hooked. GoW, is the Real Deal.

Really like the action in this one. More so than: Ninja Gaiden, Prince of Persia, Bujingai, even the insanity in DMC 3, etc.

First-off the game looks beautiful in Progressive Scan(Yeah, not too many of those floating around on PStwo). Probably one of the best looking PStwo games out there. The opening scene on the ships is one of the best envoked battle images i've seen and played. The Sea Monsters are absolutely beautiful. I'll just say, the special effects are really nice in this one. It also mixes both in-game and FMV scenes.

Sound is one of the best aspects of this game. Really feels as if your playing an epic. The hacks and slashes get you pumped everytime your swinging away at a barrage of enemies. The music has to be heard in Surround Sound for this one.

Gameplay is smooth and right on. The combos are just sick and wicked to look at. I love air lifting the enemies and grabbing them in mid-air, to only grab them again and smack them with the sword back to the ground. It does remind you of Castlevania LoI, Prince of Persia 2, and Rygar but I believe it surpasses all those games in the action department.

One thing I really love is the ability to finish-off enemies, with inputing button commands each time an enemy is close to getting defeated. It's especially cool when you have to do these against bosses. Kind of reminds of RE4's Active-Time button command inputs.

Yes, you can bone chicks in this game. It's kind of funny too. You have to input the motions to get the full, "happy ending." You'll know once you play the game.

Overall, i'm impressed with GoW. Wasn't expecting it to be this great since i've played a dozen titles that resemble it's gameplay and look. It's probably the best offering i've experienced since DMC and Prince of Persia. I'll definitely buy this when the time comes.

The rendered cutscene tits look surprisingly realistic, actually.

Re: the rest of the game- GoW just keeps getting better and better. I've bought something like 6 PSP games this week, but I've hardly touched anything but God of War since I got it.

The finishing sequences are incredible, like daking mentioned (the hydra fight is GREAT), and the fact that even the minor enemies all have a certain trick or technique that makes them easier makes for a very rewarding experience.

Best game I've played in a long while.

GoW is an amazing game. Have you guys seen it in progressive scan widescreen? Fckin amazing for ps2(GT4 looked good too though), I really like the combat and the game all the way around...and the boss fights are very memorable. Pick this up, its time and money well spent.

Indeed, I am very impressed with BOTH Widescreen and progressive scan support (480p?). The game looks great, and it even has Surround sound too and the music is very immersive.

There aren't alot of boss fights, but what are there are epic fights. I don't want to give anything away but the puzzles are really really fun and ingenious, but it is not too taxing, there are only so many things you can do. Combat is fun, that's what PoP should have been.

Great game. L.O.I. is no where close to this, but, I guess if Castlevania:L.O.I. had had better control, animation, graphics level design and play mechanics then they would be almost exactly the same

Just curious,

Has anybody tried to download the soundtrack yet? They give you a free code to do so on the back of the manual ..

Also, has anybody else looked at the back of the insert??

gotta love the extras :buttrock:

Downloaded the soundtrack a few days ago, would have never known about it if my son had not taken the book out of the case and saw that on the back of the book as I was putting it back. It's pretty cool 31 tracks, mostly music with some voice clips from the game a great extra. Will have to check the back of the insert.

I rented this game yesterday and am already about to beat it so the legth of the game is a tad short, but it is damned good. The second trip to Hades is putting my controller on the endangered species list though. God damn spinning wheels with the knives on them are pissing me off something fierce. If you haven't already been there you are in for a real treat....
