I have some questions regarding these series....

Sonic Wings/Aero Fighters: Was released for the arcade of course (Jamma), and
also for the SNES which seems to be somewhat RARE these days, specially complete.

Sonic Wings 2/Aero Fighters 2: Released for the NEO in MVS/AES/CD forms.

Sonic Wings 3/Aero Fighters 3: Released for the NEO in MVS/AES/CD forms.

NOW

Sonic Wings Special: Released for the Sega Saturn JP only game.

and Sonic Wings Limited: Released for the arcade (Jamma) is this a total different
game from SWSpecial?

Total 5 games in these fine series.
Did Videosystem Co. and Psikyo had anything to do with each other?
These series have a lot in common with the Strikers series, and the Gunbird
series from Psikyo. The country stages, the gold/money collecting etc...
Can anyone clarify?

Later on I'll try to add some of the cool hidden characters some of these games
have.

Sonic Wings Special was also released for the Playstation.

From what I've read from others before, some of the same people worked on the both Sonic Wings and Strikers series. The obvious similarities between Psikyo and Video System games can't be a coincidence.

There was also a full-3D Sonic Wings for the N64, I believe.
Sonic Wings Assault/Aero Fighters Assault.
Never played it, but have heared that it wasn't very good.
Overall, I like this series alot.

I have very fond memories of AF2, in particular.
Used to play it alot back in the mid-90s at the arcades (back when there still were arcades).

56K represent! Woot!

SWS and SWL seems to be one of the same, according to the knowledgeable peeps over at Shmups. It seems to be somewhat of a mixture of all three Sonic Wings games, from what I gathered.

Also,T is right about the ties between Psikyo and Video System. It seems that the lead programmer/producer who's responsible for SW and SW2 left Video System and joined/founded Psikyo. It's no wonder why SW3 was such a mess, since the original creators had nothing to do with its creation.

What's so messy about SW3? 3 is my favorote (though I love 2 for the multiple endings).

At any rate, 3 has the same solid, simple gameplay the series is known for, better graphics and many more levels.

I wondered the same thing after I first played SW3. The gameplay feels identicle to the Strikers and Gunbirds.

Can anyone confirm SWS and SWL are the same thing?
I doubt it, but would like confirmation before I start looking for a SWL kit.
It's the only game I'm missing on these series, if endeed is another installment
on these series.
