Don't have one but played it quite a bit at shows and conventions. Not the greatest syatem at first however the latest version has impoved greatly since the beginning. The control panel set-up (2 player w/ 6 buttons and a track-ball) is very nice. With all that said, many of their games are still suffering from glitches and slow-downs and the ROM converter for the system also has some bugs in it as well as questions of the legalities of it

MAME is LAME... if you want an arcade machine, you should have a REAL arcade machine... do like me... build one yourself... there are plans on how to build cabinets on places like e-bay, and all the stuff you need to build a real arcade machine from a few good sites.

The new Street Fighter version looks tight. Haven't played it but Ultracade swears they have the control time perfect.
Unfortunately I played their Daragons Lair/Space Ace game...timing was waaaaaaay off...lousy responding controls

I played on one once. I played rootbeer tapper (or whatever the name is). It was fun, I think I played some other game too, it was fun. On the games I played on it, it seemed to work fine. I too have heard of the SF Ultracade machine, sounds cool, if it was done right.
A friend of mine recently bought a similar PCB with 301 games one it for I think $600 bucks or so. He says most of the games run great except Mortal Kombat games (but he owns all those anyways) I haven't played it yet myself, but I'm curious to see how well it plays.

I played one at Hampton Beach, it had about 20 games and one of them was STreet Fighter 2 CE edition. It seemed spot on to me

I've played an ultracade at a few expos, and actually saw the capcom version in an arcade in Boston. It seemed alright, from the limited play I gave it. No problems with glitches or etc, but I didn't really give it too much play either. I don't really see the point of them, they are semi-legal rom boxes, but... if you are interested in them, having a standard MAME cabinet is probably a better (and cheaper) option. When it comes to emulation, it's all pretty much gray, so might as well do it better with the constantly updated and pretty solid MAME setup.
@lostdog: Well, Ultracade do own a licence for the roms they're selling, so they are indeed legit, not "gray" or "semi-legal" (but I still think their business practices stink ). You're right though that their cabs aren't the best option for the home user (or an unscrupulous arcade operator

And for those who wonder about that business practice comment...awhile back, Namco tried to sue Ultracade for unathorized use of their products for their systems however the courts ruled against Namco, Ultracade saying that they bought the game boards with the ROMS on it, thus the board was their property, to use as they see fit and the courts agreed.
Ultracade has generic cabinets and the characters used on a few are used with permission since they CAN be sued for using artwork without a company's consent. Since that court decision, they created a special converter to convert Neo-Geo's cartridge ROMS into their system.
Last time I checked around the Ultracade cd unit was going for $1200 to $1500 ,not to steep a price considering its more or less Jamma plug n play and no hassles of say a MAME cab. That said there is no way in hell they will ever be worth the 4K they want for a complete cabinet.
I think it is a very good thing for people who love old games and dont have alot of room for cabs.Not all the games are perfect but there are plenty that are decent.
As for the whole Neo rom burning thing .. who the hell cares ? SNK is dead and so is the MVS ....plain and simple ,therefore there is no money being stollen from a parent company. I wouldnt agree with the theft of any new platforms that are still generating revenue for a company ,but I hardly see where emulating older platforms/games is any different than someone buying a PCB off of ebay since the companies dont make a dime from private sales and defunct hardware.
Personally I dont think the majority of MAME games feel correct in some way, which is probably more mental since I know it isnt the real deal.... Too me the best part of most games is the cabinet and the presentation of the game on a cab is what makes it all special.
