You've probably seens some info on this around the net. Looks bloody great, makes me want to get a PGM. Its supposedly made up of RPG characters. There's a video somewhere, I posted it before, I can find it again if anyone's interested.

new, hand-drawn sprites, great look, possibly great mechanics, all on a system and by a company I imagine is way smaller than SNKP. what can you do eh?

That looks like a decent game, and that system needed a good swordfighter. I didn't bite on Killing Blade because almost no one has anything good to say about it. Well, almost no one had anything at all to say about it, and that's an even worse sign.

That having been said, I expect that this cart will be as difficult to get as always. IGS is a pain to deal with, and distributors mark up their carts as a result.

it is my understanding that this game was more popular than NBC this last AOU show. it was I think within the top 5 most popular games at the show

Has it been confirmed that it's being done for the PGM? Only thing I'd heard was that was the assumption, but after the last Sangoku Senki installment got released on the Atomiswave instead of the PGM, I'd been assuming we'd be lucky to see another PGM release, ever. Hoping like hell this will be PGM...

I can see why. There's seems to be a whole lot of love put into those sprites, looks like a page torn right out of Capcom's mid-90s design book. Hmmm, this may necessitate a purchase. I don't know much about PGM, how differently is it wired from MVS? It would be a thing of beauty if I could just slap that into my 2-slot cab.

I'm not 100% sure but I think its wired the same way as MVS? I really don't know.

I'm pretty sure this is PGM - the graphics/colours look like they where produced on that hardware. neo-arcadia.com speak about it as if this is a given so my money is on this being PGM.

If it's JAMMA, of course it's wired the same way, SILLY.

P.S. The PGM uses that extra connector next to P1 Button3 and P2 Button3 for Button4, which is the same way the finger connector on a PGM is. So if your harness is wired for that, you're fine.

I have a PGM with Demon Front and Knights of Valour, this game looks very interesting, however PGM games are much rarer and more expensive than the MVS ones from the same time, so as everybody, I expect this one to be expensive as hell for a long while :crying:

n00b question: What is PGM? :emb:
Here's a quick quote from the top of the PGM Owners thread (http://www.neo-geo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=96407):

For those who are unfamiliar with IGS CO., LTD. and its PGM arcade hardware, IGS (International Games System) is a Taiwanese company, with a website at www.igs.com.tw . The PGM (PolyGame Master) is a mother-board / daughter-cart system, the design of which seems VERY reminiscient of recent editions of the NEO-GEO MVS 1-slot mobos. More info on the PGM can be found here (http://www.system16.com/other/hrdw_pgm.html) (in English), and here (http://www.polygamemaster.de/) (in German).

I'm also still waiting for confirmation of the hardware/software release format. I didn't see any mention of Poly Game Master (cart or pcb), Atomiswave, or any other system hardware on the game's Japanese website.

Well, since Playmore is squeaking out similar looks on the Atomiswave, and Knights of Valour 3 saw an Atomiswave release, I almost wonder if this isn't Atomiswave and not PGM. Stil, looks great, and I'd love to give it a go on either platform.

According to Starchamber, who's a mod at arcaderick's forum, it's gonna be a PCB using PGM tech (the part of the thread where we talked about it is unfortunately in german):

http://www.atlus-cave.com/wbb230/wbb2/thread.php?threadid=136

Dunno how reliable that guy's source of information is, though the graphics do look "PGM-style" to me. Also, if it were on Atomiswave, the game would prolly have hires 3d-backgrounds just like KoV: Seven Spirits.

Unfortunately, the most recent ish of Arcadia (No. 60, May '05 - on sale 3/30/05) doesn't indicate which mobo format SVG will use. The magazine presents the game's vital statistics thusly:

Titile: Spectral vs Generation
Maker: Idea Factory IGS / AMI
Genre: Taisen Kakutou (Versus Fighting)
Control Scheme: 8-directional Lever + 4 Buttons
Release Date: May '05
Motherboard: --

The 4-button layout would seem to indicate either a PGM cart or a PGM PCB, since the couple of fighting games we've seen on Atomiswave have gone with a 5-button scheme. If SVG is planned as a PGM game, I'm hoping like hell it's not a PCB-only release (I really like the convenience/design of the cart system).

BTW, the SVG article in Arcadia No. 60 is 3 full-color pages, featuring a basic system overview, and initial movelists for 10 of the characters (Hiro, Orochimaru, Earth, Wells, Mayura, Krayce, Ryuken, Erille, Roze, and Jadou). The 4 buttons, btw, are Weak Attack, Medium Attack, Strong Attack, and Kick. Features include: dash, backstep, high jump, 2-button throws (A+D or B+D), throw evasion, and safe fall.

If i remember correctly,i've seen this game back when it was in location test in Japan last spring.Small but coloured sprites, big combos and a good amount of young teens available.Ain't a fighter specialist but i think fighters had low range moves,so getting closer to your opponent is the way to go for launching combos.

I got the ps2 port a couple days ago, however just popped it in a few minutes ago after reading this thread. Pre-orderd it from Play-Asia a whiiile back. The game is "alright". A bit too much guilty gear in style/appearance and gameplay for my taste (don't like guilty gear). It's a decent game but the crazy, over the top combos are not my thing. Mainly used the character that resembles and has moves like the shaolin guy from lastblade.

I grabbed the port to check out as well, I am trying out the online evaluation copy  Its not too bad. As far as ports go I give it BIG props over the recent SNK stuff as there are little to no load times at all. Very cool and sad that that is so noticeable lately. It feels a little like Rumble Fish to me in terms of speeds and combos, not as fast as Guilty Gear. Its very colorful though. Quality is right up ther with Martial Masters but with a little more production value. I'm tempted to grab the PGM cart of this.

That video man.... that's part of why I don't like the game personally. Over the top "combos"... what is this killer instinct? When I played it last night I was pulling off some crazy hit combos by just doing 1 fireball motion + punch and pressing kick 2 times afterwards.

I was like, what the hell... "auto combos"? Yeah they don't take off too much damage (however damage level can be adjusted in the options menu)... but still. All imho of course.

well, you could tell that he had the timer on infinity and I guarantee you it was just a dummy he was fighting. I HIGHLY doubt you could do that against an opponent or even the CPU for that matter. However, the CPU on the PS2 port was a joke up until the last guy, who is so cheap it made me toss my controller a couple times. And whats up with the PS2 one only booting up with a dual-shock controller plugged in??? I couldn't use my Hori stick. :very_ang:

It requies a dualshock on bootup, but after the game starts I was able to unplug that and use a PSX stick just fine. A slight annoyance, yes.
