Hey.

I want to play you people at SFAC, but I cant get my XBOX to recognize network settings at all.

It's a modded box and I can transfer files on it through my router just fine. But when it tries to get onto live, it says it cant recognize a connection. it fails at the first step.

I'm using the evolution X front end for the modded end of things.

If you people can help me, that would be great. It would be cool to talk to some NG.com peeps on xboxlive!

Check to see if your DHCP server is passing the gateway IP through to your XBOX.

could it be a banned eeprom? i think live takes measures to keep modified boxes off its service these days. modified bios is the main cause of banning but i think it can also be as simple as a larger than stock hdd.

Also, check your DNS settings.. it may have the IP stack up and running, but can't resolve the XBOX live server name.
That would explain the ability to FTP to it, but it can't jump out on the net.

Go into your EVOX network settings and see what it says.

here's your problem:

Your Gateway IP is the same as your XBOX IP...

Won't work.

Find out the IP of your Router and change the Gateway IP to that IP.

Simple fix!

Edit: Also... Set the DNS to the IP address of your router. If your router supports DHCP, I suggest you set your Xbox to use that instead.

Dont even THINK about signing on to live with your mod chip on, you'll be banned very fast. :shame: Also if you are going to connect to live with a modded box I seriously suggest reading a bit here; xbox scene forum section on XBL with the marriage theory and all (can't upgrade your HDD after you signed up for live, etc..) then again you may already know this stuff.

I suggest running the connection setup through the original xbox dash (settings -> network settings) and have everything set to automatic. I had the same problem untill I set everything to auto detect.

BTW: I just bought a virgin XB and the only live game I have right now is Halo 2 but anyone feel free to add me to your friends list, I go by Trailer Tracch.

EDIT: seems everyone else has a better idea of the exact problem, I would delete mine but I will just leave it. :emb:

Yeah, your DNS server needs to be set.

It should connect if you set your network config to DYNAMIC or AUTOMATIC. Yours is set to STATIC.

Set it to Dynamic or set the DNS server to your Router's IP.

That's it.. will work fine after that.

Did you then renew the IP address (would be easier to just reset the XBOX)?

So... did it work?

Renew? I reset the xbox and the ip in the evox settings still shows it as 192.168.0.3

doesnt change. i set it to nonstatic.

Check to see if your DNS server is now NOT 0.0.0.0 as well as your gateway...

You might also want to power down your router, also so as to flush out the DHCP tables and have it renew all the leases and info.

Manually enter your IP address as

192.168.0.150

Manually Enter the DNS in Evox as

192.168.0.1

Manually enter your Gateway as

192.168.0.1

That's it.

This suggestion may sound kinda obvious, but it worked for my friend who was having similar troubles:

Make sure the router is actually connected to the internet - check the router settings to make sure that it's connected to whatever isp you're using. If you're using aol for broadband for example, you need a screen name and password to connect to the internet, make sure you're using a different one on the xbox than the router is using, lest you run into duplicate account errors. As soon as the router is configured and online with your isp, then the autodetect settings on the xbox should work just fine.

Done Done and Done.

I even reset my router.

Doesnt work. Im leaving the ip in evox as non-static still, right?

Still no connection. WTF?!

It's a living.

:buttrock:

I don't know why it's still not working for ya, Pill. It looks like the MSDash IP stack is operating perfectly, so I don't know why EVOX isn't picking up on those settings. I'll have to boot my modded 'Box for you tonight and check out if there something I'm not seeing.

If you've set the IP addys, gateway and DNS server as per what I told you, you should set it to STATIC with an IP of 192.168.0.150 (arbitrary address)

It should work then.

I don't know why EvoX isn't picking up on those settings. Is it possible your EvoX install got corrupted?

Edit: I just saw it.

Set your ending DHCP address range from .51 to .254

Then reboot everything and try again.

May not be the solution but give it a shot.

If you are able to connect to the network when bypassing your router, you may need to configure your router to allow network communication on the specific ports required for Xbox Live. For Xbox Live to work correctly, the following ports need to be open:

• UDP 88
• UDP 3074
• TCP 3074
