Anyone else picking this up this week? The first two games plus 46 new levels. Sounds good to me, especially for $30 bucks.

I plan on getting the Xbox version, but if anyone gets the PS2 version let us know how it controls. For some reason I can't imagine the analog sticks on the Duel Shock 2 being good for the game.

I will pick it up at some point, just not now. I got too many back-logged games waiting to be played. Such misery :)

WTF its out already? Damn.. SMB is my favorite skilled series of the new gen.. Still remember beating master in the first. To bad they shitted up the 2nd with that 99 lives cheese.
Anyway, got box art?

Holy shit.... I MUST buy this. Considering I played through every level in SMB2, I'd love an Ultimate challenge. Any differences between the ps2 and xbox version?

I'd prefer the ps2 as I have a slim model and take it with me when I travel.

I am gonna get the box version of this. The graphic style will cater more to the box as the original was on Naomi first. Naomi>DC>blah

The first monkey ball destroys the second easily cause of all those gay things they added, the switches for example.

Plus, my xbox just sits anyway, this would at least give me something to do with it.

The online review of SMB says the PS2 has slowdowns and long loading times. Probably a port without putting too much effort into streamlining it, given the cost; so the Xbox version kind of shines through, on this one. Still, if portability is what you're looking for, the PS2 version should hopefully be good enough to be worth the tradeoff.

And for me, the questionable thing they added in SMB2 was the aweful story. Totally skippable stuff, indeed. The Ei Ei Pu stuff is on a drug-induced saccharine level that I barely remember seeing before. It was almost to the point of making Strawberry Shortcake seem as hardcore as the Transformers, by comparison.

Argh, goddamn sega. The series never was a graphical masterpiece, and they could have done it on PS2 with no slowdown. :annoyed: Sure the xbox version would have better graphics, but at least make a port on ps2 where gameplay is not affected.

I also reccomend xbox for this cause of that massive hdd that can save a inf number of replays.

You CANNOT have slowdown on a game like this. Imagine MASTER 3 with slow down, fuck that.

A good question to be asked is are they gonna remove the smb2 extra expert L10?
It was a gamecube, and these titles are on all but the cube. I wonder..

Fun fact: There's not a single Greek person in heaven.

Will LWK be the first? All signs point to no.

I haven't heard of anything removed from the Gamecube versions. In all actuality, I would expect the slowdown mention to be overexaggerated, for the review. It may have just a tiny hint, at places they've seen, but since they saw it at all, it was noted. I mean, if there was one version of Monkey Ball that had true slowdown issues, it's the Gameboy Advance version; but it was playable even if the speed is lower than I could ever expect any console version to get. Even with lazy programming, I wouldn't expect it to be as bad as it sounds. A 60fps game could have a tiny bit of slowdown, in a couple of small parts, or slowdown for the whole game; the review would often read about the same, regardless of which of the two it is. I'd wait until you see more reviews pop up, and what people (who buy it, and you know they will) think.

Yeah, but I'd much rather just grab the box version and not risk it. This is one game I am not gonna put up with lag. I am a crazed fan of this series, so its very important it stays clean.

I totally agree with you on this. I really want to use my cube analog for it, it had alot more comfort on my giant hands and the freedom is better then that POS xbox pad. Maybe a converter?
