I'm trying to find the name of an old arcade game. All i know about it is it was a wrestling game and i think you could play as andre the giant. It was 2d and had pretty decent graphics. I'm guessing it was made around the late 80's or early 90's. The ring was light blue. I know that's not much to go on but i haven't seen it around in arcades for a long time and would really like to play it again.

I´m pretty sure this "andre" is in it.
There is also a sequel.

no i don't think so. I think it had hulk hogan in it and andre the giant is the huge guy from princess bride who was a pro wrestler

andre the giant

The guy was fucking huge man too bad he died. Get this he died because he was too big for his heart

no, not that one.

dude, it has to be WWF SUPERSTARS. not only does it looks and sound like the game you described, it was released during the time period and you fight andre as a boss character. there was also a way to modify the game to play as the boss characters that may have been available to the operators.

i see no other option. its not like wwf games were rampant back then, like they are today.

possibly but i just remember the graphics being better than that. If i saw a screen shot i'd know it was the one. Could it have possibly not been titled under wwf? Sorry i guess it's like trying to locate a person in the world with only a vague recolection of what they look like.

well...

1) are you sure it was andre? could it have been someone that LOOKED like andre? you can easily count the number of WWF liscensed arcade games released before the early 90s on one hand.

2) are you positive it was an arcade game and not a NES game?

also, fond memories of an old games graphics only to be dashed when you see the game after 10 or 15 years is very common. for example i remember the graphics of the old willow NES game to be very impressive but i know if i saw some screens right now i would be thinking NO HECKING WAY!??

edit: actually i just checked out some nes willow sshots and they are still pretty impressive for a nes game!

1) I'm not actually certain when it was released the graphics just looked from the early 90s. Might not have been andre but i don't know who else it would have been. The graphics were like that from final fight (looked like cps1 style but am not sure) and it's not slammasters.

2) This may be the only thing i am positive about. I remember it was at a local arcade but they must have replaced it with another game.

Also i'm pretty sure about my discription of the graphics. They even looked street fighter-ish. That was one of the things that impressed me about it since i was a big fan of street fighter 2 back in the early 90s.

PS i'm not an expert on pro wrestling but the characters seemed to be more classic aka andre the giant, hulk hogan, boss man. None of the newer wrestler.

well, the thing is there was like 3 2d wwf arcade games that were ever released. the total number of wwf arcade games is like 4, i think there was 1 semi modern 3d wwf arcade game. all of which have been mentioned in this thread already so if your memory serves you correctly you have 3 to choose from.

you say it had final fight graphics so that narrows it down a whole lot but there has never been a final fight looking andre the giant so something has to give.

Feelgood is right, and Andre only appeared in two Arcade games WWF Superstars, and WWF Wrestlefest.

i dont think he was in wrestlefest. been looking for a mention of him in that game but cant find one.

that leaves 1 ols school 2d wwf game with andre in it. :D

there is a possibility it was a character rip off it wont be the first time. if thats the case you would have to look at all final fight looking wrestling games of which there were only a few. prolly cant help with that since im not a big fanof wrestling games.

also, what are the chances it was a home console set up to accept quarters? its been done with dreamcasts and PCs what about a SNES or GENESIS? when did you play this arcade game anyway?

You are right, I think Andre may have died before wrestlefest was finished.
