The Lancia Stratos is one of those rare cars that perfectly combines form with function. It was a stylistic masterpiece that racked up many rally victories. Today it is a relatively rare vehicle that has many fans around the world. One of the biggest of these enthusiasts is Chris Hrabalek, who at the age of 23 owned nine examples. As a student of the Royal College of Art's Vehicle Design, he set out to design and construct a Stratos of the 21st century. Backed by a number of investors he started a design studio called Fenomenon.
At the 2005 Geneva Motorshow the Fenomenon stand attracted a huge crowd, all interested in the 'new' Stratos. Its design was penned by a third party unknown at this time. Although many new design cues were used, the overall compact shape definitely remind of the Stratos of old. Like its predecessor, the Fenomenon Stratos is to be equipped with a Ferrari engine, derived from the 360 Challenge Stradale. Carbon fibre and aluminum were used throughout the vehicle to keep the weight down to a stunning 950 kg.
The car on display in Geneva was not yet fully functional, but a fully running version is expected as early as the Frankfurt Motorshow in September. Sales are focussed on developing countries where the poor road conditions would perfectly suit the Fenomenon Stratos.

I definitely love the idea behind this car. The new Stratos looks pretty kick ass and it seems that it is going to have excellent performance as well.
