When did Xbox become so rare???

I am looking for a simple Xbox package on eBay and see al the listing for Xbox's labeled as "rare".

What's happening? Is there a real shortage in anticipation for the launch of the next Xbox or what?
It also seem near impossible to get one from EB or Gamestop, they only seem to carry bundles.

About a couple of weeks ago I went to 3 Toys R us, 2 Target stores, and 1 Wal-Mart, couldn't find a single X-box. :oh_no:

Thats really weird. I have seen them here and there but mostly not in large quantities at all. This of course happened with the PSTwo for a while, was in very short supply but that seems to have ended. I wonder why there have been so few XBoxes around?!?!

Anyway I'd advise anyone considering picking up a new XBox to contact omnedon and order a modded XBox from him . . . costs a little more than a stock box ($360+ shipping last time I checked), but the final product is more than worth it! 120GB HDD, Xecuter chip, and a nice set of pre-loaded utilities. MORE than worth it . . .

I had the rarity problem just tonight, went all accross town looking and everyone was out. Strained my mind who else to call till I found a CompUSA 30 miles away from me with one left!! The best part was all the looks from cars with a big ol' xbox strapped to the seat on my bike. :lol:

Looks like they're pulling a Sony trying to liquidate all current stock in anticipation of their next console launch.

Their new console is not launching this year, is it? Way too soon for that . . . and even if it were, I doubt they'd dry the market up while XBox games are still coming out in force. :conf:

This is one of the reasons the retailers were bitching about holiday sales. Both the PS2 and Xbox were in incredibly short supply. Hell until a while ago one of my local Wal-Marts had a sign that said "Out of Xbox's and PS2's." They got in Xbox's first and then some PS2's. I still don't see many anywhere.

i didnt know boxes were in short supply but how is $360 + shipping a good deal for a modded box? you can get them loaded for less than $300 from anyone looking to get rid of theirs. if a smaller drive is installed (like 40gb or so) you can grab one for $200.

also, i wouldnt have a modded box as your only box. too risky to go on live with it. i want to pick up a second box thats modded to tame the rom beast in me and to use through lan. got to get $300 first though. :oh_no:

btw its rediculous what idiots pay for limited edition boxes. like $800 - $1200 just because its a different color. :kekeke:

Yes xbox2next360 whatever is supposed to hit this year (at least thats what the rumor mill says). But I doubt they get it out in time for xmas.

No idea yet, someone needs to research this a bit. But I would assume that we'll see this Halo 2 bundle towards Christmas this year to try to move more consoles . . . after the regular sales of Halo 2 have tapered off. The timing is about right for that. And, the green Halo XBox bundle has sold out and now commands a premium on Ebay, despite the fact that they supposedly made 200,000 of them!
