Final Fight replacement monitor?

I bought a Final Fight cabinet from an arcade yesterday. The speakers, joysticks, and buttons are all functional. The monitor has a funny green tint to it though. Aside from the green tint the monitor works great. The picture is sharp, clear, and bright. It just looks like the game is being viewed through a light green filter. I can tell from the burn in that the monitor used to be in a 1943 game.

Is the monitor just a piece of crap or can I adjust the display settings like on a TV? I'd rather not call up a coin-op repair if it's something I can fix myself. I'm completely out of my depth on this so any help would be most appreciated.

BTW, this arcade is selling quite a few of it's games. Next month I'm going to buy an Alien vs. Predator three player cabinet from them! I can't wait!!

You should ask in the technical section. They get these questions all the time. Did you try to adjust the colors yourself? They're going to be there somewhere. Anywhere from 4-12 nobs to adjust that sort of thing. Mess with that first. Turn up blue and red and see what happens, if you can. Burn in, eh? Maybe you'll want to replace the whole monitor then anyhow?

Sorry about posting this in the wrong section. :emb:

To be honest, I'm afraid to open the cabinet up. I don't want to blow something up. I'll open up the back panel and look for adjustment knobs around the monitor. But if something goes wrong though, I'm kicking you in the junk! :D

The burn in doesn't bother me but the green tint is sorta weird.

Whoah! Fucking w/ monitors can be hazardous if you don't know what you're doing...they can have a huge reservoir of voltage even when they've been turned off or out of use for a while. Ask the guys in the tech section before you fuck with the monitor itself!

i had a cab with an old SFII game that had the same problem with the monitor. adjusting it didn't do much at all & ended up taking out the monitor and bringing it to a local arcade dealer/distributor and they had this device that they attached to the monitor and gave it some sort of 'jolt' to help with the problem.. it actually fixed it for the most part but i could still see slight traces of the green... although this monitor/like the one in your cab, is a 'standard resolution' monitor.. and replacements of those can be pretty cheap so i'd say just switch it out.

Don't be scared of the monitor if you're not doing the wrong thing. You can get hurt if you're stupid, but they have adjusters there for a reason: SO YOU CAN ADJUST IT. I'm not asking you to mess with the monitor or board itself, just the little nobs that are meant to be played with. I can't believe you didn't do that first. Try it and see what happens. That SF3 machine I bought had a yellow tinge to the white intro (winners don't use drugs or whatever), but after I messed with the colors at the guy's house, it was just never adjusted to begin with. Don't be afraid!

When I'm pretty sure I burned the damn thing out. Everything was going ok until I cranked some knob up called screen. The monitor emitted this weird sqeak and the screen went completely batshit. I tried to turn the knob back down but the screen is still fucked and it makes this crazy hissing down. I unplugged the machine and will try to call some coin-op repair place.

The shitty thing is, I almost had the picture right where I wanted it. I was messing with the red, blue, and green knobs. Each color had two knobs; one was a driver and the other was a limiter. The picture was starting to look natural, just a little on the dark side. The contrast and brightness were already cranked as high as they would go so I decided to mess with the screen knob. Big mistake. Now the whole screen is fucked. Oh well, at least I wasn't electrocuted. The damn thing needed a new monitor anyhow.

What the? I don't know what nob you could have used to get that effect, but I am sorry. Whoa..... Hope you can turn it back. In all my years of nob turning (heh) I've never had anything like that happen at all. Hmm...
