Well if you know what I'm talking about welcome to the thread. I was just wondering who out there is a Doctor Who fan. And wanted to mention how excited I am for the new series. Recently the first episode of season 27 was leaked to the net and since we wont be seeing this in the US any time soon I had to download it.... let me tell you it looks like it's going to be a great season.
When I found out who was going to play the new Doctor I was not sure how it would work I'm still a bit skeptic because all I see are Zombies when I see him. But anyway I think it will still work out after I see him a few times as the doctor.

I've heard some rumblings about the new series. Who's playing the Doctor?
When you say zombies....do you mean someone from 28 Days Later or Shaun of The Dead possibly? :D

I hear the first episode will air in the UK on March 26.

Time for Bittorrent.

I've never used Bittorrent except the first tryout :(

Christopher Eccleston plays the Doctor I think.

He was Major Henry West in 28 Days Later

28 days later was great, they closed part of fekkin' london for a scene. That is determination from the film company.

Heard 28 Days Later was a kickass zombie movie. I'm so behind on movies I want to watch :(
It looks like they got a good guy to play the part of The Doctor. He reminds me a bit of Peter Davidson, but with the austerity of William Hartnell.

The writer of the new doctor who is Russell T davies,he wrote mini series queer as folk (which has a US version now) and also an excellent one off called the second coming( i saw it and it's one of them things you dont forget),touching evil was another one of his in the early eposodes.
Basically Dr who is in the best writing hands, and Christopher Eccleston is way underated as an actor. He's been in loads of stuff but does'nt always have a main part.
It'll surpass anything gone before that is for sure.

Great movie, and I could see him as the Doctor. Watch 28 Days Later if you ever get the chance!

The First of the Time Lords DEMANDS a link to this new epoiside!
Or even better, a continuing source to DL all the new episodes as they come out.

Theres a Dalek's chance on Gallifrey that they'll play em here, even on satellite.
And i must see them.

I don't know Rassilon Doctor Who was the most highly saught series to make a come back and has a huge fan base in America as much as in the UK It will make it to the US. Not to mention the 27 season is set to hit DVD in November.

Anyway, it
's a little rough, they made it very introductory. Can't wait to see what new ideas they have (the monsters, the Autons, are a classic they brought back for the introduction)

Eccleston's take on the Doctor is a nice change from Sylvestor McCoy and Paul McGan's over the top performances. Closer to the erratic and brash Peter Davidson performance.

I just like Doctor Who's theme music. That's all. I use to watch the series from the 80's I think it was but that was a long time ago.

Im not in Amerika, im in Japan. Which equals zero chance to see it on TV. Im pretty sure BBC is not one of the choices on cable or satellite, even if i had either. Hopefully some kind souls will continute to rip and provide torrents for the eps.

And a big thanks to Jethrek for the link! Have a Jellybaby! :buttrock:

I hope they can get it.

I'd commit my soul to PBS if they air them...... also it seems like the only channel I can get after flicking on the television the other day.

The PBS station in MD still reruns Doctor Who.

So who knows if they do they will probably..... wait untile the frist season is done.

Or like i mention befor PBS will have a "fund rasier" asking.... fans if, they realy want the new season badly.

My pleasure, great Time Lord.

Anyway, I don't know who said Doctor who was "Very popular" here, but it's actually hella obscure...HOWEVER

Doctor Who has nearly happened in America over and over. First in 1963 it was derailed by the JFK assassination. Later in the sixtiers Star Trek's popularity made it hard to get its foot in. PBS picked it up, but now few stations carry it because Lionheart would only sell serials in two-packs, and one of them always had to be Tom Baker...hence, stations more interested in Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy dropped it because it just flooded them with Tom Baker episodes.

When Doctor Who was cancelled in 1989, immediately for the next 7 years there was a fight to get it produced in America. This culminated int he flawed 1996 Doctor Who movie on FOX.

What gets me is the FOX movie went nowhere in that it both pandered to the fans (references so obscure and over-the-top sf styling made it too inaccessible) and it's general American tone didn't please the fanbase anyway.

The Ninth Doctor, by comparison, gives us a wholly new view of the series. Russel T. Davies has already captured a very funny and ironic sense of humor about it (which, hopefully does NOT get in the way of more serious plots. Doctor Who's done comedy before but I'd hate it if the Daleks weren't scary when they show up), and this could be a major advantage. Honestly, the general tone of the first episode was accessible BOTH to hardcore Doctor Who fans, and it was accessible to the Buffy-the-Vampire-Slayer watching teenagers of today.

Put it on WB and I bet it doesn't do half bad, believe it or not.
