Looking for a round hole mounted non-momentary push button that looks somewhat similar to those buttons on a candy cab. Red button and black outside.

Not momentary!!! I want it for a power button mounted on the cp. DPST on-off switch....

anyone know of a place to find something like this?

Must be snap in or screw in....no square or screw mounted switches :)

yeah....it's a shot in the dark, but I am sick of opening and closing the front door of the candy to turn it on and off....and I am kinda scared to try and cut the square hole for the existing switch.

I wonder if a momentary button could be modded to become non momentary..

Say taking one of the round type Candy cab credit-test buttons and making it push a on-off switch underneath somehow...

Or where that momentary button could send a signal by pressing it to some sort of on/off switch..(some sort of trip switch)

I figure there has to be some sort of stuff out there...

Say like when I push the button on my computer,It turns on the computer but is momentary..

Any UK members willing to pick me up a couple buttons and a couple tops?

I will cover the price, all shipping (to you and to me) as well as throw in $10 US for the ordering etc....

If so, I need two of the DOUBLE POLE LATCHING (or whatever they call them, NOT MOMENTARY) buttons and two of the solid red caps..

that's all....

If anyone would be willint to do this for me, I would be really greatful :)

I was thinking about that switch you need:

You know my dad has a key in his Garage door that looks just like the Candy Cabs lock..But, it's for the Alarm and it's an on and off keyed switch.

I figure this to be a Car Alarm or even house alarm part..
It's the same key switch as the candy cab locks..

I've seen this on old type car alarms too..This may be an Auto Parts store part..
Or in the House Alarm section at Home Depot..

It would have a screw on the back just like a Candy Cabs lock...and look exactly the same just with wiring posts on the back.

.....................

:help:

I think Radio Shack has some buttons like this. I'll check the website and post it if I find any. Pushbutton or rocker? Why would it need to be DPST, wouldn't SPST work?

hehe

One of these is the neutral switch in my 300zx, because when I converted it from automatic to manual transmission I didn't have a neutral switch anymore.

radio has some kinda like it, but they look nothing like the other butons on the cp. One of those buttons up there would blend in much better...

the power switch I have has 4 wires on it so I would like to go dpst..

I am not really looking for a rocker switch, but if it fit in a round hole, was red, and have black around it that was round or oval....I might consider it.

Lighted or no? And with 4 wires you would need DPDT not DPST, right?

Err, no I just realised why DPDT is not correct, but it would work wouldn't it?
dpdt would be fine...I just won't put anything on the other side and it will just be the off direction.

Some PCs for corporate use have these to prevent unauthorized booting, so I'm sure they are around somewhere. I used to have some cases w/ locks like that but they are long gone. Actually I havn't seen a lock like that on a computer made after about 1995.

I bet I could find one of those somewhere :)

It would be kinda cool having one of those in the cp. Interesting idea.

^^oh man, that's great! If I choose to go that route, I will definitely grab one from there.

I am going to check my local parts store first and if not there, then one of those places.

thanks!

These would be pretty much ideal if anyone had a route or a cab in a business location because the key can be removed in the on or off position meaning you could make sure your cab was on when you wanted it on and off when you want it off. At home I suppose you can just let the keys dangle, kind of give your cab a professional looking touch of high security or something hehe.

Heres another site with those "Tubular Cam Lock Switch"

It looks like it's SPST, won't work for what NGT needs it for.

do you think running the power through one of those switches could shock me or something...metal key, metal lock, etc...

just want to be careful
