ive recently come across some SF2 CPS2 carts.. and i was thinking immortalising them.. but then the idea crossed me, why not change the whole game?

just change the SF2roms to say.. progear or megaman power battles 2 or gigawing.. or whatever cept SF2..
hardware and PCB wise all CPS2 games are the same right.. so.. would this work??

No not quite. There are jumpers to change and protected pals.

SF2 is a CPS1 game btw, not CPS2 which could only be either SSF2 or SSF2T

Its not really possible for the reasons I already mention and on top of that there is the encrypted program ROM data. All your probably going to beable to do is suicide fix those 4 games.

sven, let me interupt by saying: If Razoola says you can't, then you can't. He knows more about CPS2 then some people at Capcom, I bet. He's the master of that hardware, so give up. ;)

He's the man that broke the CPS2 protection code. He's the man that can bring dead CPS2 boards back to life long after the suicide battery killed it. He's also the one that brings us all these great aftermarket bios for the Neo Geo.... he knows.... well, everything. :p

Raz has lots of fans here. If you weren't acting so dumb and actually listened to the man you might get somewhere. Its plain to see that the answer you seek is NO.

Yes I can do that as long as its dead to a suicide issue only. Basically I can bring it back to life and make it play in USA region at the same time if you wish. PM me for more info.

Sorry if this is a little bit off topic.

I have Xmen Vs Street Fighter and it says "Phoenix Edition", I know this means that it had suicided and been fixed but the question I wanna know is, does this mean that it is "suicide free" or can it still die?

Thanks in advance.

Raz said yes he can re-vive the board if it died because of the battery dying, if the board is dead for another reason then he wouldnt be able to re-vive it

Does anyone know of any sites that have documented which cps2 boards use which pals?. I know they're protected along with the roms which stops you from swapping the game as already mentioned. But if some cps2 boards use the same pals say SSF2 and SSF2T for example then in theory it would be possible. I know that some system 16/18 boards share the same pals making it possible to swap the game. To do this you have to replace the cpu as well as the roms though.

Most CPS2 B boards are cheap and easy to find, I don't see the point in bothering so much in swapping roms. You would need to sacrifice another B board, and then possibly burn some roms, which is not really cheap. Just my 0.02€.

The same game on a different CPS2 game board pcb revisons (there are 3 that I know of) can use a different PAL. Also some boards require modification before a certin game will work on it (in the form of wires soldered on the back side).
