About half the video files on the net I cannot play, and now I'm sick. I used to be like "oh well", but now it's pissing me off. How in the HELL do I play WMV files? I get this option to download the codec, but it never goes through with WMP. I need help. What do I do? :help: :very_ang:

Have you tried reinstalling Windows Media Player?

Usually reinstalling WMP fixes all the "problems" with playing WMV, even if you aren't using WMP to play the video.

You can find the download here for convenience sake.

Is there an alternate player I can use? :conf:

probably, check out some freeware sites for another player.

they'll need codecs too though.

MPlayer and VLC have Win versions available.
Heck, even Winamp says it'll play *.WMV. You'll still need those WIn drivers any way you go though.
