Seems to me all they've done is copied the Working Designs making of CD to VHS and are selling it with "customized artwork.

Stupid asses. Of course, it'll probably sell to someone who doesn't know any better.

VHS quality ripped from what amounts to a VCD with an even smaller picture, if I remember correctly.

Yes, lovely little setup that guy has there.

Havn't you noticed in DVD's in general that the vocal clarity is poorer compared to the vhs version's,i notice it in conversions of older films, not newer ones so much.

Could be just my hearing is fucked from listening to heavy metal for 15 years though.

You don't by any chance have a mono sound television?

WTF :spock: Who buys fansubs in 2005, it an't 1993 anymore. :shame:
It's not a fansub. It's a copy of the making of feature on the Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete game from Working Designs. The guy took the output from his PSX/PS2 and recorded it to VHS. he either did it through the VCR or copied it to a PC. Since he made it VHS, I"m guessing he just did PSX/PS2 to VCR, otherwise he could have offered DVDs of it instead!

The only thing I noticed about sound in DVDs is the voices are lower compared to the sound effects. For example, I'll be watching fight club and I can't hear the voices so i turn up the volume and then the plane crash scene comes up and its like OMG!

Other than that it's good.
VHS sucks.

Your right, so technically no. Since you buy anime, all the time, did you ever buy any fansubs back in the day?

Nope, 'cause I only started watching Anime towards the end of the VHS era, and probably only bought about 15 VHS Anime tapes, all legit. Once I got into DVDs, however... all Hell broke loose. Though I still don't buy bootlegs or anything like that.

VHS sucks.

Thats what i meant by voice clarity the voice track seems too low in comparison to the louder effects.

Dont get me wrong, dvd's more than make up for it in picture quality, options and extras,if they fixed that voice thing they would be even better thats all im saying.

Someone asked if i have a mono television, the answer is YES and it is also black and white,i make 5.1 surround sound by pluggin one speaker in the headphone socket(which i soldered in myself cos the tv is 50 years old) and wiring the other 4.1 to that one speaker.

Even if you TRY to make an argument that VHS has in theory, Superior sound. You have to take into condiseration that you would have to spend $200 to get a VCR that has the same quality of sound as a $60 DVD player....

Voices generally are generated through the center channel. Perhaps you can just turn up only the center channel and see if that helps at all.

You may also have a feature on your DVD player's audio setup to boost dialog output. I've seen a few DVD players with this, though I don't own one so I can't say whether it works or not.

And if not... I guess you'll just have to deal with it. ;)
