Bought the game on December 6, my lazy ass finally played it last night...Wow, this game’s awesome! It’s not as complicated as the Growlanser games and it’s just as fun (if not moreso). I really enjoy the voice acting and the fluid motion of the characters. Converting enemies is also a nice gameplay change in the genre, though I honestly don’t care to use them.

So far I’ve played like an hour and 20 minutes and I just finished The Grave of Fools area twice in the beginning of the game (I also played Zombie Gulch or whatever it’s called 3 times to level up…I always have an urge to level up a lot in RPGs, just to be on the safe side).

Needless to say I’m addicted to this game now. How many chapters are there? How does this rank against Disgaea and Phantom Brave?

Pretty much all of the Nippon Ichi games are just as good. They just have somewhat different flavors to them. Given that you picked La Pucelle, then you are playing them in order. As long as you do it, you'll enjoy the games just as much as the last. The only taking a little getting used to is Phantom Brave, due to its non-square analogue method of positioning. (Kind of like the leap of difference between Sakura Taisen 2 and 3) Other than that, certain key base features usually change around per game, but they seem just as fun, and just as replayable.

I just got Phantom Brave in the mail today, it's pretty good. I found La Pucelle to be the weakest in the "series".

Disgaea is fucking awesome, get that first.
