Okay, so it's time for my 4th trip to NY.

And while I still have all the old posts on my laptop about places to go, I thought I'd ask again in case there's anything new or unusual that hasn't be covered.

Last year I hit Elizabeth street well. J&L, Elizabeth Street Mall (which I honestly was less than impressed with...sorry).

But I'm still open to any suggestions at all! I know there's not too too many places, but I'm still always interested.

Like, I recall going to more places when I was younger (there was some sorta above ground shopping center that had a gamestore upstairs, it was in Chinatown but it wasn't Elizabeth Street Mall. Anyone know what it was?).

We'll be staying in Manhattan, either next to Times Square or Grand Central Station, so...let me have it.

There are a handfull of arcades right on broadway, near time square.... Plenty of figthers/shooters but be prepared to pay $1 for a match using broken controlls.

Games & James, lots of old school shit...

I saw that on my way to Hells Kitchen.

Ummm.. right by St. Patricks is a Computer/Camera store that has a bunch of shit downstairs... if you see GameGears and CDi shit you are in the right one.

I'll be in Manhattan this May, hopefully... but last year I said May and waited till August.

briggs & blaine sitting in a tree...

I feel so unloved. I used to be part of their clique, but I'm no longer cool enough.

Seriously, when you going to be in the city, I may be able to meet up with you since I am there basically every other weekend.

that place closed down dude.

also, check on st. marks, there's a place that sells a lot of classics systems and shit like that. they have 2 boxed TG16 in stock right now for example. they also have a bunch of the old hand helds like the game-and-watches and shit like that. it's right near kim's and all that other shit on st. marks. it's not hard to find. they also sell modern systems and a few imports. it's small and stinky. but fun.

elizabeth st. mall is the best place to get new imports. maybe you didn't go the the right place. as you go in, go down the escalator, make a u-turn at the bottom, and walk straight ahead. they got shit tons of stuff and if you act like you know what you're talking about they usually give you a bit of a discount off of the sticker price and if you pay in cash they won't charge tax usually. don't act like a tourist or they'll charge you full price for sure.

J&L sucks. i can't believe anyone would ever buy anything from them. there stock is old and way overpriced.

as for arcades, chinatown fair is the only place you need to go. it's at the end of mott street. it's also small and stinky.

good luck man, and have fun.

that store's called Multimedia 1.0 and while it may not be the cheapest place there is, the amount of vintage stuff they got sorta makes up for it (ah, nostalgia)...they also have an online store, but I don't remember the URL...

and if you're gonna be in that area, you might as well go across the street and check out St. Mark's Comics, then go down the block and check out Toy Tokyo, and finally enjoy some awesome Tex-Mex food at San Loco...anyone who's eaten there knows how friggin' addictive their tacos are

yes, but the gaming goodness is so prevalent that after a while I don't smell a thing...

Ahhh Chinatown Fair, home of the great Justin Wong.....

I also been into this one import/old school game store in The Village.

My vivid sights there: 2 complete copies of Akira for Famicom, and a multitude of PC Engine, Mega CD and Neo Geo CD.

Ah, I wish 'we' was Briggs and I. Y'know...I plan on going about every year or so so...maybe next year I can get him to go too.

Right now 'we' is my girlfriend and I. But I'd still like to meet up. It'd be fun.

Thanks so far to everyone, a lot of good places. That reminds me I have to hit Chinatown Fair (which I never found last year).

Keep 'em coming guys!

Once you start walking on Mott Street, it'll just be a matter of time till you see that beautiful sign above the entryway...it may read "ChinaTown Fair" but it really means "Welcome to Fighter Heaven"

Isnt MM 1.0 gone? I couldve sworn that they had a "going out of business" sale.

They are open weird hours, but I could never see that place closing down for good. That place has a huge selection, but just remember to bring a ton of cash.

Thanks to everyone so far. I'll definitely have to check out Tokyo Toy. I've been meaning to get into that.

As well Multimedia 1.0 sounds very cool as well. Does anyone know the store Formation Z mentioned in The Village?

Because that would be doubly cool since when my girlfriend goes shopping out there... I can stop by.

Keep 'em coming boys.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday (Leaving earlier Monday) on Memorial Day weekend.

I already bought the tickets. The hotel is still sorta in the air, but odds are it's going to be the Raddison Lexington or the Hyatt Grand.

We'd be more than happy to hang with you if you're in the area.

Thats good to hear. Though I've only purchased one item from them (Card Fighters Clash) the store is like gaming museum.

All good advice. Lemme just add: stop at The Milkshake Company. The owner, Scott Marcus, is cool as hell and the cookie dough shakes are my crack.

I already discussed it with the gf, actually.

I said I thought it'd be cool if you and the missus went up with us. Her and Dana could do some shopping and we (you, me and The Rev) could go Chinatown.

She said it sounded fine and that she'd like to meet you.

Right now our plans are only to be up there for 3 days, but we plan on going every year. Maybe you wanna go next year. Who knows. See what your wife thinks.

Where's this Multimedia 1.0 at? I read the thread multiple times, but the only clue I gleaned was 'St. Marks.' Is that a street or a square?

St Marks Place is the name of the street. It is off 3rd ave near Cooper Union Square, just south of 9th St. All the cool shit is between 2nd and 3rd ave.
