I agree, actually. For the most part, I like it. I think that Obiwan looks old as hell in that....

It's amazing how different Ewan looks from Episode 1 to III.

I always though the he was the best choice Lucas ever made when it came to the prequal trilogy.

I didn't think he was actually the same actor!

I'm afraid he, in fact, was. Look it up at your local library. The more you know.

The Emperor, Yoda and Mace look shit fake to me and out of place to me, they dont really mesh too well with the style of the rest of the poster. I could do better.

I doubt Lucas would allow me his art department at my disposal for a proper poster design. Its all how its layed out baby. I like the idea of keeping it classic but those 3 images i mentioned are way out of place with that vibe.

1. Yoda looks like hes surfin on that shadow - big mistake there.

2. Mace and the Emperor could be a simple issue of the artists talent. Those 2 images are far more photorealistic than the rest of the image (more handdrawn look). He could have toned down the realism/shading, etc so that they do not stand out so much. (basically look like real photos pasted in or something.)

The Emperors head is tilted for no reason at all and the left side of his head is not faded enough to look like its part of the artwork. I would enlarge the head and fill more of the lower right side of that poster (keeping his head straight also) and fade more of the left side of his face/hood. - it would be more of a balance with the Darth Vader helmet on the opposite side.

and other stuff.....but this is quite boring.

the artist who did that is Drew Struzan, he does it all in pencil then colored pencils and airbrush. you can criticize the layout, but you gotta give the guy props for doing it all by hand when all movie posters today are photoshop. he's got some mad skills.

Poster is pretty rad, it ties in with all the previous 5 posters including the Special Edition's.

And indeed... Struzman is the man. I wish it was darker, but at least Darth Vader (as we know him) is on it!

You don't understand, man, everyone is an artist these days.

Anyways, this dude did the Iniana Jones (no time for love dr jones) posters as well. I think this poster is awesome, but meh in comparrison to his other ones. Something doesnt feel right.

From what I read, the image was altered by LFL after it was finished (probably with photoshop-the guy who invented it is a fucking buddy of GL anyways).

God I hate photoshop.

Pencils and paint seperate the skilled from the PC user.

Do you actually think it's worse than Episode I? If so, please explain.

Oh yeah man, no doubt, the guy has talent. Like I mentioned, perhapd he went too far in his talents when he drew Mace and the Emperor as they look more realistic than the rest of the posters images. Perhaps he felt to give a greater detail to Mace as the image was small but a human.

Only thing I mentioned are those 3 items on the poster and how they clash with the rest of the poster. Not taking anything away from the original artist.

Yeah, I do. I could get into it, but the short answer is that it's more excusable that a little kid is a freaking horrible actor, than a young adult.

I actually think so too. I can't remember all of the reasons why at the moment, but I definitly remember thinking II < I. Take out Jar Jar Binks and Episode I isn't completely wretched ;)

It's good, in the fact that it has merit as a well done drawing, but it's the same thing. George Lucas just did the magic "Paint it and make it look like the old posters so we can all pretend it's like the old Star Wars". When, in fact, it's going to be shit. I liked the original movie poster better:

Yea, it speaks truer to the depper nature of the new films.

BTW: George Lucas PwnS aLl!!

I'll never criticize Struzan, because he is great, but this is just too typical of a poster design. Star Wars has become such a formula it is sad. I get the sense that they are too scared or stupid (they being Lucas) to try anything new or ballsy.

The best SW poster ever was the foriegn one (Portuguese?) for Jedi of Darth Vader's head exploding. Now that was a unique idea and made me instantly wonder, "... what the heck happens in that movie."

Wow man, I just can't fathom that at all. Episode I had SO much more Jar-Jar, and what I consider to be a totally throwaway story to the entire saga. I'm still trying to figure out why that story needed to be told, when it has so little bearing on the entire ball of wax. The only redeeming thing about about EI was the lightsaber duel at the end w/ Darth Maul, and the way it ends even ruins that.

For me, the only really loathsome part of EII was the love story. George should have some kind of UN resolution barring him from ever writing dialogue for human beings.

I respect Loopz's opinion but meh
I don't think I'd go so far if I said Ep.2 is one of worst movies in HISTORY:

-lame, irritating characters (Hayden Christensen above all, He's just not credible as a young Anakin) that don't fit at all in Star Wars saga
-a boring, pointless love story
-that fucking chase sequence at the begin is the dumbest thing I've ever seen. It made me switching my player off

First of all, thanks for posting it then I would say that I don't hate it. It's not the genius poster of episode I with anakin and darth vader as his shadow but it looks good.
