It will be compatible with Unreal 3 Engine and all the other NovodeX physics engine.

Today's processing with CPUs can handle 30 to 40 ragdoll objects interacting with each other. This new Hardware, PhysX (available for PCI-E and PCI) handles from 34000 to 40000 ragdoll objects, allowing a lot more physical effects without taxing the CPU.

If that hardware can be used wisely, i think that s a verry good thing :)

what next CPU for colours, and MPUs for maths shit?
Uh, no. The GPU handles the colors.

And the CPU already does the "math shit".

EDIT: For the record I hate this PCI-E horseshit.

Sounds fairly promising.

Are there any demonstration videos that we can download?

Nope, no video yet, you will have to wait for the first video demos of unreal engine 3 physics.
hopefully the game will support a software physics treatment but at the expense of less objects (dirong explosions for example), lessen physics details and such (no clothes physics, no fluid mecanics i think since there are details but verry taxing computing wise)

Video games are starting to get sterile.

There are a lot of sequels of sequels, not so sterile :)
Anyway, i feel like no modern game will hook me as much as Day of The Tentacle does.

Didn't sony say a similar physics processing unit would be in the ps3?

HEre's a great idea.. why don't they code better instead of having to add more hardware to support their crap?
