View Full Version : Lets pick out a horizontal shooter for a high score thread

Strikers 1945 II took the honor for vertical shooter. So lets all argue until we can find a horizontal shooter we agree would be the best for high score tracking.
My top pick is Blazing Star. It's fast paced, gives you ability to earn lots of extra points via collecting bonuses and it's not really a strait out "memorize the stage" to win kinda shooter. Also has multiple ships to select from.
Anyone else have any ideas ?

Take something accessible via MAME like this we can take screenshots of our score easily and it can be played by anyone.
I'm fine with Blazing star

Good idea, but it's going to be difficult finding an acceptable game for all of us I guess.
Blazing Star? Why not. I don't own the cart, tho, and playing roms for score on my slow PC isn't all that great.
My entries:
Border Down
ThunderForce IV or V
R-Type Final
Sengoku Blade
Scramble :kekeke:
Border Down would be my #1 choice. Oh, and of course I'd gladly list ProGear, but I neither have the pcb, nor the rom, and I doubt that I'd work on my system anyway.

I'm fine with Blazing Star too, I have the MVS cart so I could play the real deal or TEH ROMZ in the xbox.

I'd be using the ROM cause I lack a MVS and my pocket isn't ready for the AES version (yet).

How about Progear? It's available on Mame now.
We should find a game where there are no mame cheats (like for protected program roms games).
I know most are honest but still... :)
I guess something like Sexy Parodius would be nice (plenty to do, verry funny and the branching gives some tactics since all levels are not as rewarding points-wise). just my 2 yens.

I'd be ok with Blazing star.
Biometal?
Well, Blazing Star is my fave shooter right now so I wouldn't mind :)
Others : R-Type Delta or Last Resort maybe?

You know I'd be about Progear, I'm just thinking about the rest of the unfortunate kiddies. :kekeke:

BlazingStar and ProGear seem to be the winners. Lets do both and keep track of the scores in 1 thread.
I'll start it up and keep up with updating the score list.

So for those of us who don't have T3H ROM for ProGear, do you have any place we could go (or any person we can transfer from) to get the rom?
