Yeah, it's the top story over here right now on the evening news.

Nissan hired Carlos Ghosn, and it seemed to work for them, I guess Sony is following their example.

A Brazillian-born Frenchman, no less.
What really shocked me is the fact that Renault owns a large interest in Nissan. I never knew that.

They're still shitty.

I agree.
This move should help Sony to think outside the Japanese box a bit, but whether or not any new ideas emerge as a result is anyone's guess.
Product quality will still remain at its usual low levels...

Yeah, I tell people that all the time and they're so surprised when I say that an amazing car manufacturer from France (who's also very prominent in F1 and a former Group B rally member) that doesn't even have a U.S. presence basically owns Nissan.

Doesn't change the fact that their QA department blows and their equipment (esp videogames) are built like a paper tank.

lol

among the companies a paper I read blamed was Nintendo

At first this amde no sense to me

However, it occurs to me that the PS2 might really not be as profitable as the PSX was, despite selling incredibly and kicking both MS and Nintendo's asses, the price competition may have sucker-punched them on the profit margin thing.

Or maybe the article writer was clueless

No its mainly because of the costs associated with developing the PS3 for the Video Games divisions. And the others are simply because of the declining prices of consumer electronics, TV's and DVD players etc. This is all reported from the Wall Street Journal of 3/7/05. They also said something about all 3 next gen consoles supposedly being shown this week at the what is it GDC?

I think it;'s safe to say the Revolutnio will not be at GDC, and I suspect PS3 will not...

Well Sony did say they will show it before E3. This would be a good place since everyone is expecting the XboX Next/Xbox 2/whatever to show up there.

Anyways... I've been saying Son'ys profitability wasn't pretty since what? Before the credit downgrade?

Heh.

The new CEO has a shitload of work ahead of im in order to turn things around at Sony.
The brand reputation, inovation, even reliability has taken a dive in recent years imho. He had better be good
