I have a candy cab. that I just got up and running enough to test my new monitor and I am having problems with the top right side closest to the speaker. They are the original speakers and I do not know their age, but they sound fine with no cracking or distortion.

Overtime can a shilded speaker's shilding go bad causing problems if close to a CRT?

I guess buying a degaussing coil in my next step.

Having a magnetic field (speaker) close to the crt will not have a permanent effect on the crts purity.
A degaussing coil is the way to go but may not fix it, sometimes the convergence/purity rings on the crt neck require adjustment- do not mess with these if unsure

The purity rings have not been adjusted by me, but maybe they were set wrong at the factory. I am going to try a degaussing coil first. Thanks.
