Evening all,
I've had a rummage around the forum about this problem, and after a good 20 minutes of hunting decided I should just ask...
Towards the middle of last year I added a nice 4-slot Neo Geo cab to the collection, and have been very pleased with it. 99% of the time I keep it stocked-up with Neo Geo carts as it's easier to cycle through 4 carts than it is to keep plugging in separate JAMMA PCBs.
However, occasionally I do like to use the cab as a bog standard JAMMA cab, and as such plug and play such classics as `Rastan` etc. Some peple have said that they've had sound problems when they've plugged a JAMMA PCB into the 4-slot's `not quite JAMMA` connector, but I get monoaural sound from both speakers (with just the odd crackle that's only noticeable when there's no sound coming out).
One title I'd really like to plug and play on my cab is Taito's `Rainbow Islands`. Now, I'm fully aware that this PCB requires a -5 connection to pump out sound, and have my -5 connection on the cab wired up to the relevant pinout on the edge connector. Unfortunately I'm still not getting any sound (the board works find on my supergun, so I know it's ok).
Should I be getting sound out of the PCB at this point (remember, all I've done is add the minus 5. I've not messed around with the Neo Geo cabs stereo output), or is there something else I should also do?
If I should be getting sound out at this point I'll start checking my connections!
Any help would be appreciated!
Many thanks,
Rob
