(Update: proof has been provided for the first transaction at the very bottom of this thread; read on)

Hey,

This is my first real post on ng.com since my hiatus started back in October of 2004. What I am doing is seeking advice from our fellow members regarding a few transactions that seem very questionable in nature.

People who know me well understand that I am the type of person who gives everyone the benefit of a doubt (you're innocent until proven guilty IMHO), but I am starting to feel very uncomfortable with these transactions, so I have decided to make mention of them here without mentioning any names or product to avoid any hard feelings from forming (especially if I am in the wrong here).

To begin with, I made a purchase from someone who some of you may already know. I have known this individual for a very long time, and I have always held this person in very high regard. The purchase I made through this individual was quite small (it was under $60), but that isn't the point here -- money is money, and I earned every red cent of it. The transaction began in your typical fashion: communication was smooth up until payment was rendered. After some prodding on my behalf, the seller finally provided some vague information about my purchase. He (the seller) never mentioned what day the product shipped, but something was mentioned about him shipping the package sometime in the afternoon.

That’s all well and good, but he neglected to mention the day the package shipped and what method of service he used (i.e. standard mail, Priority, etc.).

Feeling a bit awkward about the way he dealt with the sale, I decided to send another e-mail message asking when the package shipped and the method used to ship it.

Finally, after 3 days of waiting, I receive an e-mail stating the package was shipped on last Monday. What struck me as odd was when the seller couldn’t remember the method used to ship the package. “The clerk at the Post Office said you will have the package within 3-4 days.”

It has been a week in standing with no sign of the package. To make matters worse, he still hasn't responded to my last message (which was sent a little over 2 days ago).

The last time I heard from this guy he said something about being busy with real life issues (sounds like a fair excuse to me -- we all have responsibilities in the real world), BUT there is something about this that still irks me.

Issue #2: Resolved!

Issue #2: I made a very large transaction with a Japanese seller for some Neo-Geo home carts. I requested EMS shipping and tracking confirmation, but instead he ships everything standard 2 week air from Japan, with no way of tracking the package. This guy is like the first seller -- communication ceased after the payment was sent, and I had to send numerous e-mails before he would even send confirmation regarding my order. Do you know what his excuse was when he finally responded? He said, "I never send confirmation, it's a bad habit of mine."

I mean, wtf? I have been in the retail business for a very long time, and this is no way to treat someone who is buying from you

Damn it all to hell -- what are the chances of encountering 2 similar situations on the same day?

Providing the members name could help any potential buyers not experience what you are.

I'm sorry to hear that.

It seems this board doesnt care about slow shippers/scammers ECT...

I've been trying to get Kid Aphex to finish his outstanding deals.

This board is beginning to suck.

And even Shawn is doing it now.

I know Shawn would NEVER scam anyone....

But his deals are bad...

No, it was a purchase made on Ebay and the person is a member of this board. He even posted his Ebay auctions in the selling forum about a week and a half ago.

I'd like to know who it is...

I am dealing with a lot of people right now, and if this is one of them and I get scammed, I'll be pissed.

Exactly this is what I called it (Incompetent seller) he's an arrogant bastards who's wasting time on others and also in the mean while he's taking the money from the buyers. :very_ang:

Update:

Issue # 1-- U.S. order (unresolved)
Still no sign of the package ever arriving...

Issue # 2 -- Japanese order (resolved)
My package arrived this morning without any issues; everything arrived as described and packaged very well.

Why would a Japanese package using standard Airmail arrive before one being shipped from within the U.S.? Both items were shipped at the same time.

Neo Lord,

I feel your pain, man. Believe me,I really do. But as a seller,I must say that I,too, have experienced this problem first hand. Pcakages can be misdirected, and sadly,it seems to happen more often than you think.

Good luck on your situation. Give it sometime,I'm sure it will probably show up anyday now.

I hope you can get your game soon. I only want to point out that US Postal office is slow sometime. Here is a record of my shipping, I bought some Neo Geo games on ebay, and the seller is in mid-east, took 11 days.

Your item was delivered at 10:42 am on February 01, 2005 in SUNNYVALE, CA 94087.

Here is what happened earlier:

* ENROUTE, February 01, 2005, 8:27 am, SUNNYVALE, CA 94086
* ACCEPTANCE, January 22, 2005, 1:47 pm, ROCHESTER, MI 48308

The guy used parcel service, ground shipping. If your item is shipped by air, it gotta be faster.

I'm still debating whether bringing this out in the open was a good idea or not. Far be it from me to ruin a person's reputation, especially if it’s not warranted.

If my assumption is unfounded then I will stand down, delete the post, and issue a public apology.

It was the way he went about handling the transaction that raised the suspicion.

The first one is me, I don't mind letting people know about it.

Basically what happened was, I sent out a game last monday around 12-1pm(pacific time)and paid about 8-9 for shipping. The place I shipped it from wasn't the post office, but I always ship things there, and haven't had any problems with them until now. Now what happened was They told me the way I shipped it, it should get to the person in 3-5 days, but when it didn't get to him on Saturday, I called them and told them what was up. They told me that the method I used for shipping was the one that takes 2 weeks to get to the person, but when I was in the store, the spacifically told me, that it will not take more than 5 days to get to him.

I just called them again, this time I talked to the owner, he's supposed to call me back in a few minutes to an hour telling me what went wrong.

*edit - okay, the owner just told me himself that the package should have gotten to you by now, I'll get a pic of the recipt tonight when I get some batteries for my cam.

Totally understandable, since the said seller did not/cannot provide any receipts or tracking information.

I once sent a package from here (Los Angeles) to NY via USPS Priority and it took about 14 days for it to arrive at the intended destination, since the USPS somehow misdirected the package and for whatever reason,it seemed to have gotten lost within their system.

Anyway, like I said,if the information given to you by the seller is true, you should be receiving the item anyday now.

Good luck!

I will be waiting for your response, Mastergiby. :) I have known you for a very long time, so believe me when I say that I feel like absolute crap for this even happening.

I will stay optimistic that everything will be resolved.

Since the place you went to wasn't a real PO,was it a third-party business like Mailbox Etc. and such?

We live in an imperfect world, so it is quite possible that the package was redirected to a different location.

I will certainly give Mastergiby the allotted time needed to sort things out.

Your best wishes are appreciated, btw. :)

I think that if you shipped this from a place like a Mail Box Etc. or any other similar place that provides mailing service, they charge you a fee on top of the actual postal charges. Therefore, when you pay for shipping would lead you to beleive you are getting a more efficient shiping method than you would expect. What you paid for would have been the equivalent of Priority 3 Day shipping from the Post Office....but since the place you shipped from added their fees into it you received regular Parcel Post shipping.

Also, being a postal employee, there are times that the post office misdirects packages ( I once saw a package that was going from Schenectady, New York to Albany, New York ... but it ended up in my hamper... In California). I always tell people the best way to ship is to pay the little extra for Delivery Confirmation. This way you will always know where that package is... and you can always have it tracked. Hopefully, everything works out for you 2 and this deal gets smoothed out quickly.

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but isn't it too soon to be getting impatient about this? I'd start worrying after about a month. If only 9 days have passed then that's not really that long of a time at all. You have all of the email and responses archived on a cd-r already? This seems way too extreme for this situation for which it stands at right now.

Well, you have to see it from my perspective: if someone ships you a package and claims it will arrive within 3-4 days, you'd naturally expect it sooner than 9 days, right?

It's not like I knew about the shipping error right along -- I didn't know the entire story until Giby posted about it.

I archive my e-mails, trades, and Paypal transactions on CD-R -- I keep everything easily accessible in case I ever need it. You call it excessive… I call it being smart.

As for waiting a month: I think 30 days is too long to wait for a package that was supposed to arrive within 3-4 days. Things can be redirected by mistake or sometimes lost in the shuffle (I realize this), but there has been 3 different versions of the story so far:

*First the package was supposed to arrive within 3-4 days
*I find out last night the package was actually shipped via Standard mail (2 weeks (which is fine))
*Now I’m being told that I should have had the package by now.

Come on! Give me a break. It sounds like this mailing company is giving Mastergiby the run-around.

I have said previously that Giby has more than enough time to work things, so I will wait patiently for his rebuttal on the matter.

Edit -- changing title until issue comes to an end.

(Just for the record: I have bought items from multiple members over the years, and this is the first time, in a very long time, that I have ever made a post concerning a private transaction. )
