Did you at any point in time enjoy NBA Jam? Do you often play NBA Live, ESPN NBA 2k or any other sim basketball game with a feeling that something is missing? Myself? I've always found the Jam series to be a blast, but there's a definite lack of defense. And the sims, while true to the B-ball fundamentals, lack a real flow when it comes to the fastbreak and one-on-one situations. EA Big's Street series gives balance to the offensive and defensive side of the ball while never causing a sudden pause in the flow of the game and never breaks its stride when it comes to the fundamentals (high/low screen, give'n'go, pick'n'roll, etc).

Anyone else intent on buying this gem?

Even though I know I shouldn't support EA, I don't think I'll be able to deny myself this game.

In my opinion, the NBA Street series has been pretty much flawless ever since its PS2 debut. From the sounds of recent reviews, the series has only gotten better with Vol. 3.

Add to this the fact that I love arcade style sports games and there's just not much I can do besides pony up the cash.

I'm torn on which version I want to buy. The XBOX one will be online, but the GCN one will have Mario!

I know me personally will end up getting it on XB so I can serve dinner on you fools online. I want the GC version also but only to check out the Nintendo characters. I'll just rent the GC version.

Good, very good. I'm glad to see a few members who enjoy B-ball and are willing to kick teh EA h8 to the curb in favor of a quality game.

I'll probably pick up the XBOX version first, but plan on buying the GCN version later. The GCN version is so damn cool for including Mario. :buttrock:

You know. I'm probably up for the Xbox version. Hey, I loved NBA Ballers and it's craziness, so I'm willing to dish out for some true arcade basketball, once more.

Still, the GC version is kind of tempting. The sheer embarrasment possibilities of seeing Princess Peach dunk on Shaq is on so many levels of wrong, I like it. I even see Shaq's crew doing that just to see the look on Shaq's face, when it happens.

While I'm almost always for the GCN, the EASports BIG games always were aimed at the PS2 hardware, and the controller. I just don't know if I want to be frustrated with the control or lack of moves in the GCN version like I was with SSX. Same goes for the Xbox, but then you've got online....

I read that whole review, and it sounds great except for the sound department. I'm surprised by that, as BIG's games almost always sound great. Maybe a tough reviewer?
