Why is it that when I run into a bunch of middle aged Yanky tourists almost every other guy is called Bob or Hank ?

Dunno, why is it that every member on this forum from Papua New Guinea is named ttooddddyy?

How old are these tourists? Names are a generational thing. Hank and Bob, popular Baby Boomer names. I think Charlie and John are up there too.

Todd is a metro name in the United States and it seems like half of all englishmen are named Richard or William.

What's the point of starting flamebait threads like these?

Even living in the U.S. I have never met anyone who's name is Hank believe it or not. I can't remember a Bob either.

I grew up with a couple kids named Hank and knew one or two guys named Bob. Way more people named Bill though.

It's like Jon Smith, sometimes people just get popular names. I work in a school with mostly hispanic kids.....so why does another teacher have 3 kids named Jose in her classroom?

It's also by generation...

Not many little girls named Ethel these days, but I bet there are 5-10 in every old folks home across the states, lol.

Yeah I know, I do it all the time.

That's an old school form of insult I learned from my Dad
when he was no longer able to call this one Lt. a "Dick Head"
because he'd reported my father and some others running their
squadrons in the T.I. program, they all resorted to calling the man
Richard Cranium for about a year until the bastid realized they
were still calling him a "Dick Head"

:buttrock:

I picked up on that at age 4 too.

I have a habit of stereotyping the name Jeff with fat people. I went to school with 5 Jeffs and all of them were fat. Even since then its been stuck in my mind.

Together, the origin of my name mean "courteous ravine" or "ravine of courtesy." Huh, you learn something new everyday.

That's odd because when I go to Sweden I run into people by the names of Gunther, Sven, Oli as well... why is that?
