LINKY.

Makes sense to me. Game-wise, there just isn't much worth playing on the DS.
I imagine a lot of people buying them are doing so because GBA games look so much better on them, lord knows The Minish Cap is far better than any of the DS offerings thus far.

The preinstalled PictoChat software is also hurting overall numbers. "DS software is not selling because users are playing the preinstalled PictoChat game," Nintendo's senior managing director Yoshihiro Mori said during an interview with Reuters. "Even if they buy a game, multiple players can use it to play against each other, eliminating the need for each to buy his or her own game."

WTF? Not even buying a game? I don't think so. I mean sure, it's ok for a few minutes, but in no way is it a game in it's self. The real reason is there are no games!

No surprise. Any launch line-up that includes Ping Pals = great dishonor. :oh_no:

Nintendo needs some real innovation to sell more games.

I just wanna chime in with: Xbox has inovation? What, better use of brown and black color paletes? Dare I go the taboo way and say Halo isn't innovative? Yes I do.

The DS IS innovative, and that's the problem.

No developer knows WTF to do with it. Most "original" ideas are just gimmicks. You could play pong.... with a pencil!!!!

You won't ever need another game again!!!

I mean, the most anyone could hope for out of the DS would be games that are just a collection of entertaining minigames.

Good? Maybe. I haven't bought one, I'll wait until the PSP comes out and the price tanks.

Well it was the first console to stick in a hard drive ( excluding the nintendo HD thing that never made it out the door). Not that any developers actually use it.

Nintendo's not what it used to be, but I definitely get more play out of GC than either the Xbox or the PS 2 (the PS 2 is a distant third). Metroid Prime and Resident Evil 4 were easily the top two next-gen gaming experiences for me.

The DS was a huge gamble, so I'm not really surprised that things are a little rocky for it right now. Projections are below what was expected, but those still look like pretty decent numbers to me, and those betting on Nintendo to drop out might be in for a long wait.

But I do think that you guys have a valid argument with the Nintendo franchises - it's time they did something new. I can appreciate them going with the tried and true classics, and for the most part I think they've done them justice. But I think it's time for Miyamoto to reach into his hat and pull out a brand new trick.

All developers make use of the Xbox hard drive. The thing is that you don't notice it, unless you are downloading/installing expansion packs like the Ninja Gaiden Hurricane Pack.

Anyway, regarding the actual thread topic - all I can say is :kekeke: and that it was really predictable. Seems like Nintendo gave a tool to game developers without even asking if they would like it or if they would even like to make use of it at any point.

My wet dream is Burning Rangers 2 on the DS.

Just think about it.

Second screen = map always displayed.

Voice control = communicate with your party!

Pen = write on the map to take note of the places you already explored, save points, hazards, etc.

C'mon, just add different characters with different skills, MOVING people to save [you could spot them on the map], and multy play...

Like everyone moving on a big arena...

that would be simply amazing!

BR introduced a game concept with such a great potential still to be unleashed.

The DS would just perfectly fits the case, don't you think?

This statement, ..

well, think about what you're saying, you're comparing a game created by a company who now knows the hardware inside and out, its established.

the ds is not.. yet.. I'm sure you'll see minish cap quality games come.. when the system is .. established.

basically, that statement was retarded, I can't be assed to tell you why anymore.

Well in japan the first 2 weeks the system sales figures where twice the sum of software sales (presents i guess)

despite those figures Nintendo is still making a bucket load of cash.

yes, the DS desperately needs more software, but anyone that has played the Metroid Hunters demo will realise that the DS does in fact, not suck, and won't just be an outlet for pointless mingames... if Metroid had been a launch game for the DS, less people would be worried.

I thoght the release of Ping Pals was pointless, why buy this when you have pictochat? Sometimes developers can be so clueless.

Actually, no. The Sega Dreamcast actually had a pretty good launch. One of the best launches, actually. The PS2, on the other hand, did not have as many great licenses for launch, but sold primarily on games that weren't going to be released for about a year after launch.

I should have said 1999

Sega hoped for much better sales for the JAP dreamcast between launch and march 1999 than they got, and despite a upbeat after the US launch things started to fizzle down until the company stopped the dreamcast in march 2001

~25% slash ? that's very significant IMO

I would have supported Nintendo's new handheld if I thought it was worth the asking price... along with interesting games.

That's not the case, so I am taking my money somewere else.
