Im trying to find out why the bidders are paying so much for this copy:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=72503&item=8161311275

In comparrason this this one:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=72503&item=8162551438

I can see there different and have noticed that the expensive one reads "16mb" and has a different Neo Geo sign across the botton but why is it so UBER TEH RAR3 expensive?

I can only think that maybe its a US copy and to find that game in US format complete and not cart only is almost impossible? (I havent checked out my theory yet Im just guessing)

Whats the story?

There's not too many English B&W Baseball Stars known to be in existence, that's a reason why our own jedipie is seeking to add teh R4R3 to his collection.

So the expensive ones the UK version and the cheap ones the US is that it?

I paid a lot less than that for my B+W Baseball Stars, but all the UK B+W games are pretty hard to come by these days, and more people are on the lookout for them as quite a few people have completed their UK colour cart collections...

The expensive one is Baseball Stars, the cheap one is Baseball Stars Color. That is to say, the first one is the incredibly rare black-and-white version while the second is the only moderately uncommon colour version (still worth a reasonable amount, but it's early days yet and it's nowhere near the b&w version).

I see the colour one is 8meg and the b&w one 16meg. That's weird. :)

If only I wasn't broke at the moment.

Actually, I still wouldn't pay that kind of money. For 3 figures I'd want it all to be made out of gold. :)

Baseball Stars ended at £162. I missed out on Pocket tennis :( . I guess it was kinda expected because of jedipie's bid on Baseball stars, I didn't especially want to go as high on Pocket tennis... :)

WTF...£162 for a b/w game...I knew they were rather rare, but not so much!

If I only think I paid a year ago for Baseball Stars, Neo Cup '98 and Pocket Tennis only £19.99, all b&w complete versions...it was a buy it now auction and there was also a b&w system included...

Hi Will, I'm still looking for Becky's game to complete my color collection, I saw the UK auction and seller won't ship overseas, what about another pleasure for me?
Will send you a PM right now! ;)

I know for a fact that that's a printing error. I have the Baseball Stars B&W JPN and that one is only 8 meg.

Guess I missed out on that because the auction title is for the colour version when it was actually b&w (as shown by the picture)! Typical... I've only got 2 of the 5 English b&w games I believe (have to go check) and I might have paid more than that for it if need be. Ah well... guess I'll have to be extra vigilant!

Anyone got one spare then? :make_fac:

Good luck finding Neo geo Cup '98, I've been looking for about a year, and have only seen 1 for sale. It was £13 at CEX but was missing the instructions, and when I went to buy it they had lost the cart as well  .

So is the UK release of NeoCup98 in b&w the same as the Japanese version (by running dual language depending on what your pocket is set to) or is it actually its own game with improvements? Obviously it has English box and manual, just wondering if the game itself was any different.

And no, I don't expect to find it in the near future... expect a fierce battle if one does appear though SoB ;)

Not according to the FAQ, no. The UK release was enhanced and released as Neo Cup 98 Plus, essentially the same game as (and link-up compatible with) the later Color version. The original Japanese-only Neo Cup 98 is not compatible with either Plus version.

KoF R-1 is the only b&w game I have, and I doubt I am willing to compete with you lot. Maybe if four copies turn up, I might get one. :)

(I'm still shy Cool Boarders and Reversi from the 39 Color games, too.)
