so why should we get rid of the post count system?
let me rephrase the question, why have any post count in the first place?
even though it may seem like a fun feature at first glance, what does it lead to?

the internet as a platform is a great chance.
at least here every person is equal.
beside his/her postings there is nothing to judge a user by.
so why create an artificial ranking system?
only so that some can boost their ego by having more posts than someone else?
why cause a divide that only serves the elitist? :spock:

also this system inevitably leads to a large amount of unnecessary posts, that
would probably not have been written, wasn't it for the post count.
so a removal of the post count would also improve the quality of the board.

to tell an old timer from a noob?
that's what the join date is for.

so let's serve humanity and get rid of the post count. NOW!!!

Every internet based community DOES have a social rank order. Trying to hide it won't get rid of it. And there's no reason to do so either.

I say keep it. It works both ways. Yeah, people who use their post count as the base of their argument can be annoying, but how often do you really see that? I see people bring up their join dates a lot more often.

On the other hand, when you see a newer member with an abnormally huge post count, like here a month and a couple thousand posts, you can pretty well tell that they're a spam queen not worth paying attention to.

I say get rid of it. Hopefully it would lead to more meaningful posts since people wouldn't be so concerned with their post count.

I don't care whether post count stays or goes, but I'd like to see member number come back - that was one thing I thought should have been kept in the board migration from UBB.
