Not sure if anyone knew, or if anyone even cares, but The Minibosses have a new live album out. It actually came out at the end of Oct I think.

Listening to the clips from their new studio effort, I think I may like the prior versions better because they are closer to the originals.

Getting their Ninja Gaiden track, even if it's live, is going to be pretty damn cool.

So, it's sorta old news, but there it is. The live CD is $12 and funds go towards helping them realize the latest studio effor (which is remixes of the first albums game music, I think).

Hell yes! :buttrock:

Thanks for the heads up, just ordered. This is their 3rd album isn't it? I have the last one with Castlevania 2 and Mega Man, but I think that there was one before that... wish I would have ordered it now, great art on these.

Is this the same band that did the metal versions of the Metroid themes and BMGs?
If so, right on...that was some cool shit.

Yeah, they did a Metroid track, not sure if the one they did is the one you heard because there is another band that does NES music. I can't recall their name, but I believe they've done a Metroid track as well.

Just check out the links they have posted for some of their music, should give you an idea as to whether it's something you'd like or not. ;)

Have any of you ever heard the Vomitron cover of Contra? Listen to that if you can, it blows the Minibosses version out of the water. Not to say the Minibosses are bad, but it's just that good. If you have AIM, just IM me, and I'll send it to you. The Grospixels are also pretty good, but their songs are too short for my taste. At least the Minibosses have 6 minutes+ on their covers.

Both bands need to do way more Megaman X stuff. And neither of them are really that good.

I actually preferred the "closer to the original" sound of the earlier Minibosses stuff to Neskimos. Neskimos are good, but sometimes their freeplaying/chanigng of the tune annoys me. Still, they aren't bad.

Agreed, while the NESkimos have a much cleaner sound and are better players from a technical point of view I still like the Minibosses better in that they are a bit truer to the originals and there is just more excitement to the way they play the songs in my opinion. That said the NESkimos are still an awesome band too... :buttrock:

Wish there was a band like these two that did Neo songs...

Orochi Iori Y- did you download the samples from their latest studio effort? Seems like they may be foregoing the "sounds like the original" sound...

Haven't downloaded them yet... going to now. That is too bad, hopefully they keep the energy that they put in to their stuff. :spock:

EDIT:
Are you kidding!? Those studio samples are great (Castlevania and Contra), they are super fucking tight and sound like the originals to me... Can't wait till that shit is done and available! :buttrock:
