Looks pretty cool. The only thing that would probably bother me would be having to use the converter everytime I wanna play a US NES cart. It'd be nice if the had a model that was US by default.

The local game store by my house has had the US version of these things for sale for a couple of months now. The guys selling them couldn't even tell me what they played. :oh_no:

The only problem with them is that the AV output has both the Video and Audio(mono) channels coming from the same port. Not 3 seperate signals. :(

I wonder if that Neo Fami can support Famicom games with the advanced sound mappers (i.e. Akumajou Densetsu)

I've considered getting a neo fami, but it just doesn't feel right to me. It's not original Nintendo hardware, so it's really more of a hardware emulator. And my PC already emulates NES games well with a good video output, if that's what I want :\

100% reliable, the store is not far from where I live and I've bought many things from them in the past. :)

Well I know what you are saying, but this is an 8-bit system after all. Having both composite video and audio coming through the same port is probably not that big a deal, and most likely superior to the original NES RF output, don't you think?

The orignial NES has composite video and mono RCA audio out too... just look on the side of your NES. One big problem with the neo fami that I can see is that it doesn't look like you can use a standard NES controller on it. That is a deal breaker for me alone.

Wow it looks pretty cool.

I just ordered this and a few other items so I should be able to post more information on it soon( How wrong could I go for $30?)

I always see a whole mess of these on ebay along with some other HK fami's. I have been tempted to buy one since I don't see many of the original famicoms for sale and theres the issue of the old fami not having AV. It might be a good buy, no?

Also, I remember reading in one of the auctions that thse are compatible with both nes and fami carts, so .......

Just an FYI, the physical store (Starland) has not had any of these in since before Christmas, when they all sold out (and they were sold at $50 each in the store at that time). They can still be ordered through the website though. Weirdly enough, a used NES at Starland costs $60 (ouch!), and this new unit only costs $30 (through the website only)? Strange . . . :spock:

As for it not using standard NES controllers, that wouldn't bother me a ton, since the stock controllers for this look pretty decent (but who knows, they could be crappola).

If anyone gets one, let us know what you think. The price is certainly right! :)

Even if the standard controllers blow, you could always gut one and build a sweet little joystick for it.

I'm kinda tempted, but I just don't play 8-bit shit often enough to warrant a purchase.

While we're on the 8-bit tip, does anyone know of a device that allows you to dump NES roms onto some sort of flash cartridge device and play them on the GBA? After playing the sweet Castlevania NES port, I really enjoy the idea of playing old school 8-bit love on a portable.

Carlson (16-Bit) sometimes has them in stock. He's got the sweet hookups and is first class professional to deal with. Give his EBAY stuff a look see through this link here... www.mad-gear.com *I gotta' say it was worth every penny.

Merc couldn't be any more right. Since I live a state away from Mad Gear's HQ, I get my shit so fast.

I need a new Famicom myself. Controller 1 on my Sachen Q-Boy gets fucked up occasionally.

I bought one of those Power Player Super Joy 3s and hooked up an NES controller port. There is also a slot on the back that plays Famicom carts (NES can work with adapter). I've been playing Mike Tyson for the past few weeks with my dog bone controller. You can actually hook up a player 2 port, use a light gun, and use the Advantage.

The NeoFami looks like it has a DB15 port. Shouldn't be hard to make a cable adapter.

That only plays famicom carts right? Why not just get a toploading nes?

^ Sure they're good to have to show off, but an American top loading nes ain't got nothing on a Japanese A/V Famicom.

There are no A/V jacks, only that fire hazard RF cord (but supposedly a A/V mod is relatively simple to pull off). Besides, I've heard Game Genies won't fit in those.
