I did it once. To be fair though, I followed through. When they robbed the world of Stinky-Dinkins I got all whiny so I came back as Twat Cop and said that I was leaving. Twat Cop left as promised then I came back as No Means Yes. Twat Cop was a man of his word but that No Means Yes was a real shady bastard.

I figured that if I put something out there to humiliate myself, I'd be more inclined to avoid this place
it didn't last too long though (only a few months)
It seems like a lot of people have made this promise: Takumaji, Fatguy, JHendrix, Kerny (perhaps the most famous of all), Stinky, etc.
edit: on second thought, I think the JHendrix part was Xxtoo_shortxX's wishful thinking

I had a 'hack' to add functionality like this, where if someone started a thread like that, it would immediately lock the account, and change the rank, sig, etc, saying their wish had been granted, and the account was locked. The addition of it was vetoed though......

No, that was real... JHendrix said somebody (not tooshort) had threatened that if he didn't leave the boards, the mystery perpetrator would hack JHendrix's computer or something like that. With the sheer number of numbskulls we got floating around here, why JHendrix would be anyone's first target is another mystery. Anyhow, aparently the situation got resolved somehow, but not before JHendrix came back in a fake account and started the hillarious (but straight-faced) thread, "Like It Or Not, NGF AES KOF 2000 Is Legit" (paraphrasing here).
