I wouldn't mind knowing some good tips, too.... but they will come with spoilers, I'm afraid. Well, semi-spoilers.

For instance, what hand gun is best overall? Small things like this are all I want to know. I'm already on chapter 2-3, and I can't get enough of this game. In a way it's like Resident Evil, and yet it's not. It's very different from the norm... And yet it's incredible. The things happening so far in the story are great, and I can't wait to see where they go next (and I really don't, I've stayed away from all info about this game so I'm surprised at every turn).

I just found this out, you can shoot holes threw bookcases / obsacles that are used to block door, or blow them up with a grenade.

edit, with shotgun, lol

Always go for the knees when faced with multiple enemies, or even not. My pattern is usually shoot one knee, if they don't completely fall over, shoot the other knee and then charge at them and knife them while they're down and getting up. Conserves ammo.

I'd do this if I weren't a total spaz and could actually aim worth a damn. I frequently get mobbed by like 8 guys and it's over right quick.

Doesn't shooting them in the head take'em out with one shot?

You can get instant kills with head shots, but it doesn't always happen. I've downed a villager and then planted 3-4 bullets into the back of his head/neck and it doesn't explode, then again I've aimed in the general area of the head from 10-15 feet and gotten it in one shot. Its not something I've come to rely on.

I got the green catseye from the dial contraption behind the church, and then I sold it to the merchant. But about 10 seconds later, I realize the description for it said "was mounted in something" and I thought it might've gone in the beerstein.

Poop.

ah. Ok also I have found all but one blue coin in the graveyard, and all at the farm. Anyone know if you get a bonus for all of them, or is it just 10 for the gun....?

That's a good strat. for conserving ammo, but I haven't really come close to running out of ammo yet. Seems to be quite plentiful through level 2-2, with boxes and barrels all over the place, as well as ammo just popping up when the zombies dissolve. Maybe they get a little stingier later on though.

I got all 15 coins, and didn't get squat (perhaps it unlocks something after finishing the game, and if you can't find some use the the map and zoom in). When fighting El Higante, knife his legs from behind and then jump on his back and stab the parasite. You'll save a shitload of ammo.

I've noticed you can get the heads to explode if You aim RIGHT in between their eyes...more often than not.

Assuming the ammo generates randomly rather than on what you actually need, using my knife tactic I've amassed nearly 200 rounds of pistol ammunition, but I'm having to cut back on the shotgun usage a bit

After 10, the merchant just gives you that one hand gun. I took it from him (for free mind you), then sold it back to him for some pretty good money. That's what you get.

Anyone suplexed somebody yet? I did it by pure luck on one of those monks in the castle. Pretty impressive move.

No, but...

*slight spoilers*

I was watching one of my friends play in the castle sewers (?) when those invisible insects appear. He didn't even know it was coming but accidentally hit A right when it lunged at him. Leon did this bad ass kick and knocked the thing straight down on its back. It was pretty cool looking, even though he didnt' mean to do it at all.

So far, I've found the Punisher to be the best gun in the game, not the most powerful pistol in the game, but its ability to shoot 2 baddies in a row is invaluable, especially when your getting mobbed by 10+guys. Mind you i'm only 7hrs into the game and only tried out the Red9, Broken Butterfly (badass .45 magnum, but good luck finding ammo for it), and Blacktail so there's probably more I haven't tried out yet.

The TMP sucks though, not worth the price in my opinion. Decent against bosses, but not much else.

I sold my Punshier for the Blacktail and I'm liking it more, I never even bothered going for the TMP, couldn't afford the room in my inventory. I did however make a cool 6000 pesetas for all the TMP ammo I was holding.

I think the suplex is only possible when an enemy is getting up, but I guess you have to be RIGHT on top of them to do it.

I've stuck with the Red9 since it does it's job well enough but the semi-auto rifle is a boon of the the manual one. I highly recommend it for snipers.

One thing that I noticed today, after hearing all the things that the villagers/monks say in spanish:

Mierda - Shit
Te voy a matar - I'm going to kill you
Ahi esta! - There he is!
Matalo! - kill him!

and my favorite from the monks:

Cerebros! Cerebros! Cerebros! - Brains! Brains! Brains!

I think the last one was Shinji Mikami's playful stab at the old b-movie zombie flicks, but a very funny inside joke nonetheless.

-The flash grenade does actual damage to those parasites that sometimes appear after blowing someone's head off.

-The parasites that appear from monk heads don't swing at you, they lunge and bite your head off if you're too close.

-Only once did this happen, but I blew off a monks head as he was very close, but sometimes the headless body keeps walking. One grabbed me and I had to shake the dead body loose. Creepy.

Yeah, I did it, but only in the Castle. In the Village I was just putting my foot in people's faces.

SPOILER

The insect fuckers, any tips on them folks?

I'm assuming you mean the big ones in the sewers.

The insects arent to bad really, just but alot of caps in their ass or take care of them with the shotgun.. .make sure you get them one at a time (until they tag team you) and don't let them gang up on you, and you'll be good to go.... Try close range so you can throw some kicks in there... also the Shotgun or Riot Gun makes SHORT work of them. If you can find them of course.

The Neck Pod Spider things, those aren't really that bad and as mentioned before the Flash Grenade should damage them.

It woks 100% of the time if you have the Magnum. That thing turns zombi heads into mush.
