How long before EA releases its own game system?

From the trend that EA has been following as of late, how long do you think some "genious" says "hey lets make our own game system and release the only NFL game on our system only."?

Could it occur? If they want to control the market then them must control all if it. Paying distribution right to Sony and Microsoft, after all is redeeming some control.

When does EA give Sony the "screw you" we are going alone, if at all.

Closest thing to that was the 3D0. ;)

I really hope they do make their own system, that way they can only have exclusive rights on their system.

i hope they do, because it would get crushed like hell. and yes the 3DO was EAs home console pretty much.

How much longer before they buy SquareEnix? That would be teh funnay.

Their next step is most likely to be a purchase in the majority of Ubisoft, there's really no reason for them not to.

Oh, god. Don't give EA any ideas. :oh_no: :oh_no:

By the way, EA sucks nuts. If they do have a console system of their own, it would go right down the drain, just like with the 3DO.

I do not see it happening, just because of how EA is now setup. Once, they were a proud software house/developer where creativity was king, now they are just some large conglomerate where they release the same old drivel over and over again, and live only on flash and not much on mechanics.

EA would never do their own console, although, it is not beyond the bounds of reality to see them scoop up the remains of some hardware developer making a console, and EA buying them out at a bankruptcy auction. Problem is, EA lacks the muscle to truly market a console, they probably could not do much better that Atari did with the Jaguar or Lynx. The only thing they have going for them is their sports licenses basically, and committing those to just their own system would be corporate suicide.

I can not even really think of a scenario for EA to muscle in against Sony and Microsoft. They would need to buyout 'Atari' and maybe partner with Sega, and get themselves setup with a strong presence both here, Europe, and Japan. Possibly badge the system with the Sega name in Japan and Atari here and not sure about Europe, do not think EA would go far for a system name. Software support is not much of an issue, but marketing funds are.

Just remember, EA is more or less a holding company these days.

The money's in the razor blades, not the razor.

EA's got it made in the shade right now. MS and Sony spend millions developing their new consoles, and EA just has to trot out their shit sports games on whatever shows up. No need for them to invest in a whole manufacturing/R&D venture.

Why do you think Sega went 3rd party? The money's in the games, people.
