Weird thing happened while playing SS2 on my Neo Geo CD last night. I have played it MVS and AES and now have it CD and have never seen this happen.

I was playing along in Japanese Mode on a Japanese system on Level 4, pretty much just started with no options picked. I chose Gen-non or however you spell that guys name, and worked my way through until I hit the 5th charater, lost, then continued after entering my name. I BEAT that character, then moved onto number 6 with was Earthquake with whom I beat easilly but he still got some hits on me. Then all Of a sudden Kukio or that guy with the flags comes out tosay what I thought would be "Bad Atmosphere" only in Japanese.

What DOES infact happen is you see him jump foward an in Plain English (jap CD System Jap Game Jap settings) you see him say "Congradulations" and then some Jap Stuff undernieth.

After some loading you have a Prefight image on Kukio and then all 12 or so boxes below are of him. then you fight him, he kicked my ass, just kept doing fire balls and that flag swipe, then you go back to the original game.

WTF happened? How did I do this? Also what would Happen If i had beat him? I guess use him.

ALSO, WTF mang i have YET to kill someone. MVS I cut people in half all the time, CD? Not once, there is blood but I can't kill people, help?

I'm not sure of the conditions, i've fought him before had my ass handed to me.

If by killing you mean cut them in half, burst an artery, they are in the cd version most def.

I don't know what the requirements are for fighting him. I have only fought him twice myself (came close to victory both times) and lost.

As for the fatalities....I know what you mean. I had the PC-CD version before the NGCD version, and I would get fatalities (cutting people in half/blood spray) all the time. I have never done a fatality once on the NGCD or PSX versions of the game.

My guess is they're not in there to save ram. (Just a guess though)

If anybody knows if there is a way to get fatalities for the NGCD and PSX versions of SS2 let us know.

1.) Basically, the occurence of Kuroko the ref is completely random in 1P mode. However, there's a method to always fight him described in various faqs. Two of them are available on gamefaqs.

The method involves beating your opps. 2-0 using a DM finisher in the 2nd in rounds 6, 8 and 10, and the clock must show less than 20 secs.

You can also play with Kuroko in 2P mode (with a code).

After fighting Kuroko, the game continues normally wether you have actually beat him or not, it's just a little extra.

2.) Fatalities are intact, you simply have to switch your game to Japanese language in the options menu and then back to US again, then the green stuff will be red and the fatalities will be there. You have to repeat this after finishing or resetting the game.

I can also vouch that the fatalities are indeed intact in the NGCD version. As long as its set to the Japanese language, just as Takumaji said.

They seem to happen just as frequently as in the AES/MVS version as well to me..

My Cd Unit is a japanese unit. So it is always in Japanese. Do I switch to US then back to Jap? I have NEVER, EVER seen a fatality. Not once, never. Musta clocked in a good 30 Hours too.

Well...

I've re-checked my documents about Samsho 2, and it turns out that my info I've given to you regarding the fatalities was incomplete.

By switching Samsho 2 CD to Japanese language, you will get red blood, but still no fatalities. I own the game on both CD and cart but mostly play the cart version where you get blood AND fatalities if you set the game to JPN mode.

This is how to enable both blood and cutting opponents in half, taken from C. Hallam's Samurai Showdown II CD Blood Code instructions:

"From: C.Hallam@iti.salford.ac.uk
Subject: SS2 Full blood code

Samurai Showdown II CD Blood Code

I am halfway through reading my 406 mailing list messages (I haven't
been into University for a couple of weeks) and I keep seeing this
blood code request.

For SS2 CD:

* Go to the options screen
* Highlight 'Exit' with the cursor
* Press all four joypad buttons together (red, yellow, green and
blue or whatever they are)
You will now have exited the options menu

The code is now activated - Full blode code with English text
(provided you have set the text to U.S.A. on the option screen)
including all the fatalities - mid air split with falling bonuses,
blood spurt and slice in two/disappear.

This code will take a bit of practice to get right but a good way of
checking without loading up the full game is to then go to the "how to
play" instructions with Haohmaru and Genjuro demonstrating A, B, AB
etc. This doesn't have to load and the blood sholud now have changed
from green (yuk) to red.

I don't know who said to just set the language options to "Japan" but
you only get the red blood on this setting- NO FATALITIES - plus you
have to read Japanese (which is not easy when you only know the
Hiragana and Katakana alphabets)

SUD"

There we have it. Sorry for the confusion.

Samsho 2 had been officially released for PC in January 2000 by Cyberfront. Some of the developers also worked on the PC port of Seibu's Raiden II.

Haven't played it yet, but perhaps genjuro1 could tell us more about it.

If you lose to him, it's game over.

I've beaten him a few times and just continued with the game. He's quite simple if you use cheap tactics.

It's a no frills port of the arcade MVS. No special features at all. I find that it is easier than the NGCD and PSX versions though. You could switch languages and all the fatalities are in there. I paid like 6 bucks for it.

Syxx573 had the same issue.
Our collective conclusion to the dillema can be found here.

Not sure what to think of this.

I have a JPN-only (i.e. without language switch) top loader, and I distinctively remember the fatalities. Like I mentioned, I play the homecart most of the time, but I've also played the CD a lot and I could swear the gore is in it.

Okay, even if it's a bit late for that, I'll do some testing, just to make sure...

it's not plausible to me why the JPN version has blood but no gore and the US version has no blood but all the gore.

Because we Americans evidently love to see stuff die, but get woozy and faint over the sight of blood.

Honestly, I haven't the foggiest idea either. My friend's mom wouldn't let him play any games with blood in them. Another friend had rented Primal Rage and within a few minutes the game was cut off for the blood being shown in it. He went outside to play freeze-tag or something and I sat and messed around with the settings on Primal Rage on the Super Nintendo and turned off the blood.

For some magical reason, it was suddenly okay to play the game. So evidently massive decapitations and deathscenes were okay--as long as nobody bled and things could be passed of as saying, "Oh! They weren't really hurt. Just passed out."

--It irks me to no end why one is acceptable without the other.

ok, from what I can figure out there are different blood codes depending on which region your hardware is:

for a US NEOCD Console

* Go to the Options screen
* Change Region to Japanese
* Exit Options
* Re-Enter Options Screen
* Change Region back to USA
* Exit Options again

for a JP Console (as Takumaji cited)

* Go to the Options screen
* Highlight 'Exit' with the cursor
* Press all four joypad buttons together (red, yellow, green and
blue or whatever they are)
You will now have exited the options menu

why there are two different codes I have no idea, but this is what I got out of this whole mess...

You should get fatalaties and red blood with a Japanese CD and Japanese system without any code.

I will have to play it again...its been a while.

I played the Japanese SS2 on a Japanese AES and obviously you get both. :blow_top:

It has to be said, the music :buttrock: on the Neo Geo CD version, even :mr_t: thinks its cool.

Nope.

I got a Japanese SS2 and a Japanese top loader. Only blood, no fatatlites.

I'll try playing on US mode and see if fatalities are intact. I played in US mode once and immediately reset when I saw that green blood, bahh!!

I GOT FATALITIES!!!!

Alright, played both my NGCD and PSX SS2 games. I figured out how to get fatalities but, and there is a BIG BUT.........ONLY IN 2PLAYER VS. MATCHES.

Here's what I did.

Put in my NGCD SS2 tried both the above mentioned codes like 4 times.
Played through USA and Japanese Mode. NO FATALITES!!
Before I decided to turn the game off, I wanted to practice a Super Special Move.
So I pushed start on the second player pad.
Saw a fatality for the first time on the NGCD.
Repeated like 3 more times. GOT A FATALITY EVERYTIME!!

Same thing for the PSX version.
Not one fatality in single player.
FATALITIES ONLY IN A 2PLAYER VS. MATCH!!

I'll keep trying those codes (Maybe I wasn't doing it right.).
I'll let yall know if I can get fatalities in single player......

Hmm this could be why I see the fatalities and blood both on my CD system...I don't think I've ever played it one player but a few times..usually I play with friends or my wife. But I know I've seen the blood and fatalities in this one...on my US top loader...using the following method

for a US NEOCD Console

* Go to the Options screen
* Change Region to Japanese
* Exit Options
* Re-Enter Options Screen
* Change Region back to USA
* Exit Options again

meh..who knows...I very rarely play SS2 my CD system now days...
